Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Attendance Friday is optional, but Austin area teams should take advantage.  Your Saturday will be less stressful, and it will make it easier for more distant teams to fit in their runs.

These events are all volunteer run, please aim to lend one volunteer for each team you are registering.  Lots of opportunities big and small. Check out RECF Volunteer Roles Overview for more details.

If bad weather was to occur, use your own descretion on attending the event.  If an event is cancelled and we are not able to reschedule the event we will refund your tournament fee minus the $5 which is paid to RECF on registration.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the event is canceled for weather or other reason, teams will be refunded their registration fee minus the $5 collected by RECF at payment.

Refunds will be given for team-initiated cancellations sent to [email protected] prior to the registration deadline listed above. The refund will be the registration fee minus the $5 collected by RECF at payment.

Any fee associated with the method of payment (such as a credit card surcharge) will not be refunded.

Teams that have not paid by the payment deadline listed above will be moved to the waitlist.  Those teams will not be eligible to participate in the tournament.

The event will follow AISD health and safety guidelines.

Parking at McCallum is broken into several small lots.  The image below shows the best options for parking as well as the event entrance location.  There is a lot (A) directly adjacent to the venue, parking on the west side of Sunshine (B) is your next best option.  The performing arts center lot (C) to the north is also a good option.

The venue is the large gym (V).  There are a few low steps at the main entrance, and an accessible entrance toward the right as you approach.

Judging Format

In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.

Innovate and Think awards require submission of a form to the Judges. Look in the documents section for links.
