Our team was originally comprised of 4 members, 3 boys and 1 girls. This changed to five members when another girl joined the team. Afterwards this changed back to 4 when another boy left. When we advanced to World’s, we decided to take on three more members from our other teams (coincidentally 3 boys) and the team we are going to World’s with is comprised of 7 members. The team is loosely divided into 3 subcategories, CADD, programming, and mechanical. The members are assigned tasks depending on which category they are in. These roles are not set in stone as many of our members tasks overlap and everyone does everything. The team is led by a captain and co-captain that go where they are needed and guide the team in what to do meeting by meeting and making sure everyone is being productive at each meeting. They also aid in helping the team make decisions everyone agrees on. Everything done at every meeting is recorded in our Engineering Notebook. In addition to that we record any problems, changes to design, general notes, etc. in the notebook as well.
Team 3389D is a sub-team of Wicomico County Robotics Club. Our club has been very fortunate to be part of the NASA Wallops Island House Team Alliance Project for six years now. Our club has volunteered to assist at local robotics competitions for middle and elementary schools. The club has sponsored a VEXIQ team, which is the first in our county. This year, the club hosted a VEX EDR scrimmage and competition for the first time. Team 3389D was picked to be part of the number one alliance at the DelMarVa State Championship and won the competition. Our team also won the Amaze Award at the state competition. Team members have grown in programming, CAD, and mechanical aspects of building of the robot.
Wicomico County Robotics Club greatly appreciates our sponsors: NASA, Maryland Board of Education, Wicomico County Board of Education, Parkside High School, Parkside Career and Technology, Mader Systems Consulting, Bennett Companies, AutoDesk, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
