<SG2>

Horizontal expansion is limited during a Match. Robots may not expand horizontally beyond the 11” x 20” starting dimension limit at any time during a Match. This “horizontal” measurement is made relative to the Robot’s starting orientation; it is not “absolutely horizontal” relative to the Floor. See Figure 20. Note: There are no restrictions on vertical expansion.

Figure 20: Examples of how a Robot should be measured horizontally. Significant Q&As:
  • 1774 - Robot must remain within 11””x20”” size limit through all ranges of movement
  • 1784 - Cables count toward the Robot’s size and size limits
  • 1896 - Robot that ‘sways’ out of size is in violation of SG2
  • 1897 - License plates count toward the Robot’s size and size limits
