General Info

The 2025 Automate Automation Convention in Detroit will host a VEX CTE Workcell Demonstration. This is a great way to demonstrate what the students are experiencing in the classroom does apply to real world applications. Students and manufacturers will get a chance to discuss how important this experience is.

Registration Information

Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.

Engineering notebooks

We will not be be judging notebooks and will also not interview competitors. This is just a demonstration contest. Judging will take place during each phase of the challenege.

Lunch and Concessions

Lunch will be provided to the competitors

The Challenge

We will only compete for 4 hours. Teams will try and complete all phases of the competition during the alloted time.

Competition Preparation

All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

  1. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on robotevents.com

  2. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

    • Goggles/Safety Glasses

    • Spare parts & tools

    • Batteries and chargers

    • Power strip and extension cord

    • Laptop computer

    • Programming cable

    • Banners and other decorations for your team pit table

    • Giveaways if you have them

  3. Be sure to read   VEX Tournaments 101.

  4. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

  5. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your EXP brain.

Participation and Consent Form

A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Volunteer

Volunteers are an important part of every event and we acknowledge that these events would be impossible without them. We appreciate those volunteers who are willing to give their time for the benefit of our students!  Volunteers help make events run smoothly and play a critical role in every process, from registration to scoring to judging.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of bad weather, we will make every attempt to contact all coaches by email, phone or text, as well as make announcements through social media of any changes of the event or the event schedule. 

Refund and Payment Policies

If this event is canceled by the Event Partner, a refund for registration fees paid minus the $5 REC processing fee will be issued to each team. 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and then chooses to withdraw or not attend, registration fees will not be refunded.

The judges will assess each phase of the challenge.
