General Info
What: Girl-Powered Elementary Robotics Workshop
When: Saturday, October 15, 2022
10:00 am - Noon Central Time
Why: Girls are under-represented in all STEM Fields, and we, the PHS Engineering Club, feel that this workshop will spark the interest of our youngest students in pursuing careers in STEM Fields! Plus, robots are cool!
Who: Escambia County Public Schools female students in grades 3-5
Where: Pensacola High School Innovation Center
500 W. Maxwell Street
Pensacola, Florida 32501
The entry gate will be on Spring Street. Registered participants will be emailed/mailed a specific map, and students will be on hand to direct participants to the right place once they arrive at Pensacola High School.

9:15 am Spring Street Gate opened for arrival
9:15 - 10:00 am Participant Check-in
10:00 - 10:15 am Opening remarks and robotics demonstration
10:15 - 11:00 am Introduction to robotics kits and begin assembly with high school student coaches
11:00 - 11:15 am Snack time
11:15 - 12 noon Finish building robots, program robots, and drive robots
12 noon Dismissal to parent/pickup person
12:45 Spring Street Gate closes
Volunteer
All student volunteers and adult volunteers will be vetted by organizers.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
In case of bad weather or other emergency, the alternative date for this event will be November 12, 2022. All other event information will remain the same for that date. If you have a personal emergency, and your student will not be able to attend, please email [email protected] to inform us of non-attendance for planning purposes.
Refund and Payment Policies
This is a free event, so there is no refund policy!
Health and Safety Policies
Please inform organizers if participant has allergies to food or other environmental situations. We want to provide a safe environment for all participants.
Facemasks are recommended for all volunteers and participants, as working in teams of 2 or 3 students plus a volunteer can be in close quarters.
For snacks, hand sanitizer will be provided, and safe practices will be used to distribute snacks to students.
