Join Placer Robotics at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Roseville, CA for the 1st Annual Placer Girl Powered Workshop for elementary and middle school girls! The two-day workshop allows girls grades 4-8 to form teams to design and build a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering VEX IQ Challenge Slapshot. Use of Robotics kits, lunches, snacks and event t-shirt are included.
We will have experienced robotics camp counselors on-site to assist each team
The registration fee is $80 per team (~$20 per girl to cover food + t-shirts for the 2 day event). If you need any help registering, or would are requesting a fee waiver, please email us at [email protected] and we will work with you to complete the registration.
Only one of the adult has to register for the entire group and pay 1 fee ($80). The names of the participants are provided through a followup form from the event organizer. Please do not register more than 1 person for your group.
If you are interested in finding others in your area form a team, please enter your contact information in the Find A Team form (at the bottom of this page).
Who Can Register
Any group with 3-4 team members - the team can be all girls, or teams with at least 50% girls
Girls in 4th-8th grade are eligible (9-13 years old)
Each team should have 1 adult present with the team, especially for the younger age groups or teams moving on to compete in the Placer Robotics VEXIQ League. Contact us if you have a unique requirement or hardship
All the participants agree to adhere to health requirements required by the event organizer, host venue, and local public officials
The adult providing supervision for the team must be at least 18 years old. Since the role of the mentor for each team is to supervise and support the team’s progress, they DO NOT need any prior robotics, tech or coding experience. The adults supervisors are there to help largely with logistics of getting the team organized. We will have experienced robotics camp counselors on-site to assist each team
All participants will be required to bring a signed participant release form.
The workshop fee is $80 per team (approx $20 per participant for both days). This fee will be waived for girls and teams with any financial difficulty. Please email [email protected] to request information about financial waivers.
Placer Robotics will be providing all of the equipment and robotics kits for the event, and we will have experienced camp counselors supporting the teams throughout the event.
We will provide lunches and some snacks for all the participants. We may not be able to accommodate all dietary restrictions so please be prepared to bring your own lunch/snacks if you have special dietary restrictions.
Email us [email protected] and we will complete the registration on your behalf. Only one of the adult has to register the entire team and pay the fees. The names of the participants are provided through a followup form from the event organizer. Do not register more than 1 person for your group
DO NOT register a VEX IQ team on robotevents
If you don't have 3 team members and are interested in finding others in your area with interest to form a team, please enter your contact information on this form.
