Directions:

The Robert B. Daugherty Education Center is located north of the main Zoo gates. Please come directly to the building for check-in. A parent or guardian needs to bring the student in to fill out a photo release and check-in the student for event.You do not need to enter the Zoo. Public parking and drop-off is located to the south and west sides of the building.

Refund Policy

This is a free event, open to the public for registration.  Please notify us if you registered to come, but later cannot attend.  We want to ensure that as many girls in our community get the opportunity to attend as we can.

Local Female Leaders in STEM Panel: 9:15 - 10 AM
A panel of local female leaders in STEM and robotics will share their experience in their careers.

Animal Ambassador Talk and Snack: 10 :00 - 10:20 AM
Encourage  girls  to  become  leaders  and  to  pursue  goals  through  the Girl  Powered activities.  The world needs more leadership roles for women in STEM.

Robot Build Activity: 10:30 pm - 11:15 AM
Hands-on robot building opportunity with the VEX IQ build experience. Each girl gets to participate in building their own robot and driving it through a course.

General Info

This is a fun activity filled event to engage girls in Robotics to celebrate the International Day of the Girl.  No robotics experience is required and all materials will be supplied.  Participants will be able to build a robot and learn how to get involved in Robotics.  This activity is intended for Elementary and Middle School girls.  

We will also have a panel of local STEM leaders for female students to learn more about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

It will be held on the International Day of the Girl, Saturday, October 5th at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo' and Aquarium, Robert B. Daugherty Education Center (3701 South 10th Street, Omaha, NE 68107).
