Tournament Code of Conduct

CREATE Sponsored and Co-sponsored events require teams to understand and accept a Tournament Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct will help clarify the role of students and adults at CREATE events. Please be sure to read through the entire CREATE Tournament Code of Conduct and be sure that all members of your team understand it as well. We believe these simple rules will help everyone have a great experience.

Qualificaiton Criteria

2016 VRC Heartland Robotics Championship Qualifying Criteria

Below are the criteria for teams to qualify for participation in the 2016 VRC Heartland Robotics Championship This document applies to both high school and middle school teams.

There are three ways registered Nebraska and Iowa teams can qualify for the 44 High School and 32 Middle School spots;
1. Via official qualifying tournaments
2. Via official skills challenges
3. Via official qualifying Nebraska and Iowa leagues
To be eligible to participate in a VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) qualifying event (and for a qualifying spot), a team must be officially registered as a VRC team and have their official 2015/2016 VRC Team ID Number and Robot ID plates. 2016 VRC Heartland Robotics Championship qualifying spots are available as follows:

Level 1: 16 – 23 teams will qualify up to 3 teams
Tournament Champions (2 teams)
Excellence Award winner (1 team)

Level 2: 24-59 teams will qualify up to 5 teams
Tournament Champions (3 teams)
Excellence Award winner(s) (1-2 teams)

Level 3: 60+ teams will qualify up to 8 teams
Tournament Champions (3 teams)
Design Award winner (1 team)
Robot Skills Champion (1 team)
Programming Skills Champion (1 team)
Excellence Award winner(s) (1-2 teams)

Skills Challenge will qualify 5+ teams
Skills rankings from all official events will be included in the VRC rankings.
The top 5 high school/middle school teams from Nebraska and Iowa (5 total, not 5 from each State.) as of February 8th, 2016 in each skill challenge will be automatic qualifiers. (Pending availability additional teams may also qualify in order of ranking.)

Nebraska and Iowa Leagues will qualify up to 3 teams.
The top ranked team in a league at the end of normal league play
Tournament Champions of the league Tournament Finale (2 teams)

1. An “Official Qualifying” VRC event meets the following criteria:
a. Is listed as a VRC event with online registration hosted on Robotevents.com.
b. Is held between June 1st, 2015 and February 8th, 2016.
c. Teams participating at the event have completed their VRC team registration.
d. The event must follow the Official Rules in the Game Manual (including tournament and alliance selection guidelines).
e. The Event must be held in either Iowa or Nebraska. All teams from either state participating in ANY tournament from EITHER state are eligible to qualify for the Heartland Regional.

Video Judging

Video Judging will be used this year for all Divisions of the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship. Video judging requires each team to submit a video based upon the guidelines found here. Be sure to read the Team Guidelines thoroughly. Feel free to review the two event partner documents too. This will give you a clear understanding of how video judging works and how your will be graded.

Submission deadline: 2/21/2016.

MOST JUDGED AWARDS REQUIRE THE SUBMISSION OF A VIDEO. THIS INCLUDES ALL JUDGED AWARDS THAT QUALIFY FOR WORLDS.

Waiver

A waiver will be required. Each member of a team, student and adult needs to sign the following waiver.

To help move registration along quickly we would encourage everyone to print off the waiver and get them signed prior to arriving at the tournament.

Judging
* Only the top teams as judged on their video interview submissions will participate in the face-to-face interviews. Those teams will initially be interviewed in their pit area Friday evening. Finalists from this initial interview will be notified of the time and place of a final face-to-face interview Saturday morning.

Skills
*Three rounds per team per skills challenge maximum.

*The top three teams in each skills as of 11AM Saturday will move on to the finals from 11:15AM-12:15PM Saturday.

*In the finals, teams will have one more opportunity to increase their top score.
