The Championship is being hosted now at Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, Florida.

Welcome to the VEX VRC North/Central Florida High School Regional Championship! Congratulations to all the teams that qualified. We are excited to be hosting the Regional Championship at Steinbrenner High School. We hope Tampa, Florida will welcome you all for a great weekend filled with an electrifying VEX Robotics Competition.

Shirts will also be sold during the event!

All participants are expected to complete the participant release form. (also available in Spanish) Once per season covers all events.

Important - Field Control

The match fields will be controlled via the new Smart Field Control system. Even though teams are required to be updated to the latest firmware and are asked about this during inspection, please make sure brains are updated to the latest firmware to ensure smooth matches.

Pits

Pits will be in the Gym of Steinbrenner Highschool. Match and skills fields will also be in the gym.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

7:30am - Doors open to everyone

7:30am to 8:45am – Team Check-in & Inspection

9:00 am – Drivers Meetings, Inspection/Check-in Closes

9:00am - 10:00am – Skills on all fields

10:00am to 12:00pm – Qualification Matches

12pm to 1pm  – Lunch Break

1:00pm to 3:45pm – Qualification Matches

3:55pm to 4:20pm – Alliance Selection

4:30 pm to 5:40pm - Elimination Matches

5:50pm - Awards Ceremony

The event wraps up by 6:45pm.

There will be two dedicated skills fields that will be open all day once the drivers meeting has been completed. Once a team has checked in and passed inspection they will able to complete their skills runs. There will be skills runs on all five fields from 9 AM to 10 AM, however, the two dedicated skills fields are the only fields that will have GPS strips present. The skills fields will close once qualification matches have ended. We highly encourage teams to plan to complete skills matches early on, as lines can get busy.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the unsung heros of any great event. We hope to gather a great group of volunteers to enhance the experince for all teams and guests! Please feel free to follow the link and sign up for one or multiple positions and/or timeslots.

Please make if you do decide to volunteer for multiple positions, that the time slots do not interfere one another. Likewise, if the position slot mentions EP Approval, please feel free to reach and make sure you are quailified for your desired position.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

The event is held indoors and unless there's severe inclement weather - like a hurricane - the event will continue as planned. In the event of a severe weather event, the tournament will be canceled.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: If inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances arise, the event may be canceled and teams will be refunded in full.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: After the payement deadline has ended, February 3, 2024 @12pm (noon), no refunds will be issued for any withdrawn teams or teams that do not show the day of the event.

 

Health and Safety Policies

All team participants, including students, coaches/mentors, and parents/guests will be required to follow all Hillsborough County Policies while on campus

Travel Info

A detailed image will be shared with teams the week before the event in regards of where parking is allowed. There will be signage outside the venue to direct teams where the event is located.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
