General Info

Cardinal Gibbons High School is proud to host the Bots by the Beach Tournament VRC for Middle and High School Teams for the VEX Robotics Competition: Over Under!

Please arrive with your robots inspection ready! Teams should complete a preliminary inspection prior to arriving at the event using the VRC Robot Inspection Checklist

Concessions (cash only) will be open throughout the event with drinks and snacks. More information regarding lunch will be provided to teams soon.

Teams should bring an extension cord (15 foot or longer recommended); we will provide power as close as possible to each pit. 

All participants and attendees are required to follow the expectations outlines in the REC Foundation Code of Conduct.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

7:30 Doors open, check-in and inspections open

8:30 Check-in closes (if you're running late, please call the Event Partner to be included in the match list)

9:00 Inspection closes, skills field opens

9:15 Driver's meeting

9:30 Opening ceremonies

9:45 Qualification matches begin

12:30-1:30 Lunch break

1:30 Qualification matches resume

3:30 Qualification matches end, skills field closes

3:45 Alliance Selection

4:00-5:00 Elimination matches

5:00-5:30 Closing ceremonies

Volunteer

Volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated! All volunteers are trained at the event, so there is no prior experience required. Some roles are for adults only, but many are open to students. All volunteers will be provided free lunch and drinks.

Students can earn community service hours for volunteering at the event! Students must bring a physical copy of their school's service hour form to the event to be signed by the Event Partner.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of an emergency cancellation or other change in plans, teams will be notified via the team contact information available through RobotEvents. Please check to insure contact emails and phone numbers are correct and up-to-date.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event, a refund will be given. Refunds will always be $5 less than the registration fee, due to the non-refundable fees required by RECF. If your registered team can no longer attend the event, please email the Event Partner so teams can be added from the waitlist.

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. Engineering notebooks will be evaluated prior to the event; links must be posted in RobotEvents by 1-Feb-2024.
