General Info

UPDATE! We will not be located in center court. We have been graciously granted use of the former Old Navy store front. This is next to the food court.

Please join us for the Western Maryland VRC  "Over Under" Valley Mall Qualifier 2024 (MS&HS), in Hagerstown, MD. This VEX VRC tournament is open to both Middle School and High School teams and will qualify teams for the Maryland State Championship. If the event is full, please add your team to the Waiting List. If the event is not full, but the registration deadline has passed and you would still like to attend, please email us. 

This event qualifies teams for the Maryland State Championship. All Washington County Schools will be in attendance and we welcome other schools as well.

If paying by check, please make payable to "South Hagerstown High School" and put Rebel Robotics on the memo laine.  Please bring the check to the event (or email for mailing address).

8:00 am - Doors Open & Inspection

9:00 am - Practice Fields Open

9:30 am - Event Meeting (center court)

9:45 am - Qualification Matches Begin

10:00 am - Skills Field Open

12:00 - 1:00 pm - Lunch Break 

1:00 - 3:00 pm - Qualification Matches -> Skills Field will Close at the end of Qualification matches

3:15 pm - Alliance Selection -> ONE representative for each team (No robots)

3:30 pm - Elimination Rounds Begin

4:00 pm - Finals and Awards / Practice Fields Closed

4:30 pm - Clean Up

Our goal is to keep to the event schedule.  Matches will start without robots if you fail to show up at the queue on time.

Volunteer

Volunteers make robotics tournaments possible and are essential for providing these STEM learning opportunities for our friends and family. Please consider volunteering to help make this event a success. Full-day volunteers will be provided a complimentary lunch. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of impending bad weather, Rebel Robotics will work with the Valely Mall management to determine if the event can be held on the regularly scheduled day and time. In the case of bad weather, the first choice will be to keep the event on the same day and alter the schedule. If that is not an option, the event will be postponed and held on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Updates will be provided via email and posted to the event webpage on RobotEvents.com.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the event is cancelled, teams will be given a full refund. Teams that drop out will be given a 50% refund if notified within two weeks of the event. Refunds are less the $5.00 RECF processing fee.

Health and Safety Policies

Currently, Washington County Public Schools does not require all students, staff, volunteers, and spectators to wear masks when indoors.  However, if you are not feeling well, please do not attend the tournament, in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Judging Format

In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
