General Info

Please join us for the VRC Rebel Rumble at South Hagerstown High School, in Hagerstown, MD. This VEX VRC tournament is open to both Middle School and High School teams and will qualify teams for the Maryland State Championship. If the event is full, please add your team to the Waiting List. If the event is not full, but the registration deadline has passed and you would still like to attend, please email us. 

This event qualifies teams for the Maryland State Championship. 

Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Rebel Robotics Club.

If paying by check, please make payable to "South Hagerstown High School" and put Rebel Robotics on the memo line.  Please bring the check to the event (or email for mailing address).

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

8:30 - 9:30 Registration, Inspection, Practice

9:30- 9:45 Welcome and Event meeting

9:45 - 12:00 Qualification matches

9:45 Skills Field Open (until the end of qualification matches)

12:00 - 12:50 Lunch

1:00 – 2:30 Qualification matches (tentative)

2:30 - 2:45 Alliance Selection

3:00 - 4:00 Finals

Clean-up - any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Our goal is to keep to the event schedule.  Matches will start without robots if you fail to show up at the queue on time.

Volunteer

Volunteers make robotics tournaments possible and are essential for providing these STEM learning opportunities for our friends and family. Please consider volunteering to help make this event a success. Full-day volunteers will be provided a complimentary lunch. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of impending bad weather, Rebel Robotics will work with our school facilities to determine if the event can be held on the regularly scheduled day and time. In the case of bad weather, the first choice will be to keep the event on the same day and alter the schedule. If that is not an option, the event will be postponed and held on 12/16/2023 (tentative). Updates will be provided via email and posted to the event webpage on RobotEvents.com.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the event is cancelled, teams will be given a full refund. Teams that drop out will be given a 50% refund if notified prior to one week of the event. Refunds are less the $5.00 RECF processing fee.

Health and Safety Policies

Currently, Washington County Public Schools does not requires students, staff, volunteers, or spectators to wear masks when indoors.  If you are not feeling well, please do not attend the tournament, in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Buses and vehicles with trailers and/or equipment can turn to the right at the end of the drive to unload students and equipment in front of the main doors.  There is also plenty of parking for the buses and parents!

If using a GPS, please use the following address: 1100 S. Potomac St, Hagerstown, MD 21740. This will direct you to the correct side of the school

Judging Format

In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
