Competition Preparation

This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments.
2. Check the official VEX Q&A for rule updates and changes.
3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on RobotEvents.com
4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

  • Goggles/Safety Glasses
  • Spare parts & tools
  • Batteries and chargers
  • Programming cable
  • Power strip
  • Laptop computer
  • Engineering notebook (if you have one, helpful for Judges, Design and Excellence Awards )
  • Banners and other decorations for your team pit.
  • Giveaways if you have them.

5. Prep for your interviews with the judges. Chck the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
6. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby as the venue is a very tight fit. 

  • Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks.

7. Understand how the game will be played. 
8. Ensure that you have the latest version of firmware.

Awards will start being presented during the Semi-Finals.

Any award that can qualify a team for the VEX World Championship will be presented at the conclusion of the Elimination Matches

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of bad weather, updates will be made by email. Please your team's contact information in Robot Events accurate and up to date.

Refund and Payment Policies

If for any reason the Event Partner cancels this event it will be reschedualed at a later date. There will be no refunds except if there is no rescheduling of the event. Any refund will be minus the RECF fee.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend there will be no refunds.

Travel Info

Teams traveling overnight will find many hotel opportunities in the Abilene area.

Access to The LIFT Center from the north ican get congested turning onto to Lincoln Ave because of traffic merging onto hwy 36 south. Turn with caution.

Judging Format

NOTEBOOKS: If a teams would like their notebook judged they must submit a digital copy of it through Robot Events no later than 11:59 PM, Central Standard Time, February 18, 2024.

INTERVIEWS: Teams should to be ready for their team interview anytime after their robot has passed inspection.

Lunch Pre-Orders

Teams will have the opportunity to pre-ordered food for lunch.
