Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

We welcome volunteers and will hold an online volunteer meeting Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 at 6 P.M.  Please email [email protected] for more information.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of emergencies, qualifying matches will be re-scheduled for the next available Saturday. Please make sure your team contact information is updated in RobotEvents.com, and includes school and non-school phone numbers.

Refund and Payment Policies

If Event Partner cancels the event:

In the event that the league is cancelled by the Event Partner due to health or other conditions, teams will receive a partial refund ($200 less the share of any expenses already incurred by the event partners for game elements, $5 RECF fee, etc.).

If a team cancels:

If a coach registers and then chooses to withdraw their team(s), a partial refund can be provided prior to the end of registration (10/16/23).  The refund will be $200 less the share of any expenses already incurred by the event partners, such as the $5 RECF fee.  After 10/16/23, refunds cannot be provided, and we ask that teams maintain their participation in the league so we can provide the best possible competition environment for all registered teams.

Health and Safety Policies

The Rio Hondo League will follow all health and safety guidelines that are in place for the hosting school, which is part of the El Rancho Unified School District.    While we currently (August 2023) have no restrictions in place,  these guidelines could include masking, limited audience participation and/or proof of vaccination for adults.  

All health and safety guidelines are subject to change at the direction of the El Rancho Unified School District.  Coaches will be notified of any modifications or restrictions at least 2-3 weeks in advance of each meet.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams must bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.  Judging will take place during the last league meet on Jan. 27, 2024.  There is no need to bring notebooks to the ranking meets in October-December.
