Teams will be allowed a maximum of three (3) Programming and three (3) Driver skills runs, with a maximum of two (2) at one time so everyone gets a chance. See the agenda tab for skills times.
Be sure to bring everything you need for the tournament. Battery Chargers, laptops, spare parts, and anything else you may need.
Make sure you have read and understand the rules, checked your robot against the inspection sheet, and have submitted your waiver forms. Waiver forms can be submitted online.

Volunteer
This event requires volunteers and there are many roles available at the events. Please refer to the following information listed on the REC website.
Field Reset
Description: Accurately reset the competition field after each match and assist the Field Manager or Head Referee as needed. Note: students with high energy and younger children do well.
Activity Level: High (physical), constant standing or walking.
Experience Level: Beginner. No experience is needed.

Head Referee
Description: Organize and oversee all Scorekeeper Referees. Interpret and consistently enforce the rules of the game to score each match upon completion. Act as the final authority for any disputes or rulings. Train Scorekeeper Referees as needed.
Activity Level: High (physical), constant standing or walking.
Experience Level: Advanced. Previous Scorekeeper Referee experience is required. Certification required. Must be at least 20 years old for VRC events and at least 16 years old for VIQC events.

Inspector
Description: Conduct inspections to verify that robots comply with the rules and specifications outlined in the game manuals.

Experience Level: Intermediate. Basic knowledge of robot construction and familiarity with VRC & VIQC parts is helpful, but not mandatory.

Judge
Description: Evaluate student teams through interviews, Engineering Notebooks, and on-field performance. Present awards as needed.
Activity Level: Moderate (mix of sitting and walking).
Experience Level: Intermediate. Some robotics judging experience is helpful but not necessary. Must be an adult for all VRC events. Must be at least 16 for local VIQC events. Must be an adult for any VIQC event that qualifies for the VEX World Championship.

Judge Advisor
Description: Train and assist volunteer Judges as they evaluate student teams through interviews, review Engineering Notebooks, observe on-the-field performance, and present awards as needed. Facilitate the Deliberation process for judged awards, and serve as a Judge as needed.
Activity Level: Moderate (mix of sitting and walking).
Experience Level: Advanced. Previous Judge experience is strongly recommended. Certification required. Must be at least 20 years old for VRC events.

Description: Assist with staging teams for upcoming matches.

Scorekeeper Referee
Description: Record scores using the TM Mobile app or paper score sheets. Verify recorded scores with other Scorekeeping Referees and/or the Head Referee as needed, and with the student drivers after each match. Discuss possible rule violations with the Head Referee after the match. Ensure the field is reset and robots are ready for the next match.
Activity Level: High (physical), constant standing or walking.
Experience Level: Intermediate. Experienced volunteers are preferred; however, Scorekeeper Referees can be new volunteers and can be trained quickly. Must be at least 15 years old for all events.

VEX TM Operator
Description: Use the Tournament Manager software to initiate matches and record scores. Coordinate with the Emcee on displaying match results at appropriate times.

Experience Level: Intermediate. Experienced volunteers are preferred, but new volunteers can be trained in advance.

Refund and Payment Policies
Refunds are available to teams that cancel one week before the event.
If less than one week to the event date refunds will be made on a case by case basis.
If you are canceling with less than 1 week's notice and if another team can fill the original teams spot, then a full refund should be available.
Health and Safety Policies
We will be following Ministry of Health and REC Foundation guidelines, in place at the time of the competition.

Roboplanet Education and Community Society is located in the city of Richmond. You may easily reach this place by car or by skytrain.
The nearest skytrain station is the Canadal Line Aberdeen Station. It is about 5-8 mintues walk from the station to the school.
If you choose to drive here, there is ample parking in the main parking lot located directly in front of the school.
