General Info

Welcome to the 9th Freeport VEX Robotics Competition.  This year's game VRC: Over Under will be played by high school and middle school teams of students as they design, build and program a robot to defeat each other.

 

Breakfast and Lunch are offered for purchase by the PTA.  Please support our Parent-Teacher Association.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Volunteer

Volunteers are always welcome.  We offer a complimentary breakfast, lunch, event t-shirt and certificate of community service hours.  Experts in engineering and robotics are always welcome but anyone can help.  We have roles for volunteers of all ability levels.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of severe inclement weather or other emergency the event partner will coordinate with the school district and building administrators to decide as early as possible about any potential delay or cancelation of the event.

Any delay or cancellation will be posted on the RobotEvents.com website and the event host will contact by text/email all attending teams as eary as possible.

The tentative reschedule date in the event of an emergency cancelation due to wheather is Sunday February 4, 2024

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

In the event of severe inclement weather or other emergency resulting in the cancelation of the event the event partner will attempt to reschedule.  If the new event date does not work for you then a full refund of the portion of the registration fee received by the event partner will be issued via check.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event and then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Refund requests for any reason other then event cancellation must be received by January 1, 2024 in writing or email.
Requests received after January 1, 2024 will be contingent upon a new team replacing the withdrawn team.  All refunds will be issued via check.

Health and Safety Policies

This event will abide by any State, County, and Local ordinances regarding health and safety.

The building is located between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road.

Bus Dropoff: Busses should use the front entrance to drop off students and equipment.  Busses may park in the back of the school during the event.

Car Parking: Enter the parking lot and park near the Custodial Entrance.  If you are near the football field then you went too far.

Train: The LIRR Baldwin train station is a couple blocks away along Sunrise Highway.

Judging Format

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
