General Info

Welcome to the  VIQRC Full Volume competition being held on the 9th December 2023 and February 17th 2024 at St Andrews International School Bangkok. All teams need to be registered with St Andrews by the 31st October 2023, there is an entrance fee of 3500 THB per event per team. Schools need to register on Robot Events for the VIQRC Nationals by the 31st of October. ****Note, you must also registered with St Andrews, dates for registration confirmation with the school and registeration on robot events have different end dates****

We are limiting the maximum number of teams to 5 per school

Similar to previous years, St Andrews believe in making this event as exiciting as possible and have set a theme for this years event which is 'Disco', we will have special awards for best dressed and best booths. Lets see how creative schools and teams can be to bring further excitement to the day.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

Start and end times will not change, event will run on Saturday from 07:30-18:30 

7:00  Doors open for Teams (Pit access only) / Register Team 

7:30 Practice field opens (Practice Field) (field for team practice, 5 mins. max on field). Note that main fields 1 - 4 will be closed, skills fields 5 & 6 can be used as practice fields in the morning prior to start of day as well as practice field number 7.

7:00-8:30 Registration closes 

7:30 - 8:40 Inspection (compliance check)

8:50 Intro to the day

9:15 Practice matches - 1 practice match per team only - (Main fields 1 - 4) 10 min cycle)

10:00 Snacks delivered to school booths

10:30 Qualifications (Main fields 1 - 4) 10 min cycle)

11:45 - Lunch delivered to school booths, teams and coaches can eat whenever they are not in matches.

12:30 - 13:00 - Official break for lunch for everyone, no fields will be open at this time.

13:00 - 15:00 Interviews (Judges need to interview each team, all members present)

13:00 - 16:00 Qualifications resume - (Main fields 1 - 4) 10 min cycle)

15:00 - light meal provide to all attendees, food will be delivered to booths

16:00 Teams review rankings

16:30 Alliance selections (8 alliances of 2 teams each)

16:10 Quarterfinals (4 games) > Semifinals 2 games - single elimination brackets

17:20 Finals (first alliance to win two games)

18:30 - Closing ceremony and packup

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

The event will happen rain, shine, snow, thunderstorms (or pollution).

Refund and Payment Policies

Please contact organizer for cancellations and refunds. If the event gets cancelled for any reason, the tournament entry fee of 3500 THB will be refunded.  We are not responsible for Robot Events, however, so any money paid directly to them is, as far as I know, non-refundable. If teams drop out after the Registration Deadline, no refunds are possible.

Health and Safety Policies

Please see the below link for our Child Protection Code of Conduct. All coaches and educators at the event will be expected to sign a digital version of this before coming onto campus. All parents will have to agree to these things on the Parent registration form before the event. Third parties are not permitted on site due to child safeguarding reasons. Only registered attendees will be permitted entry to our campus.

Judging Format

 

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
