The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.
For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Volunteer
To operate this event requires many volunteers. Teams are expected to help setup and/or cleanup. If your team is traveling with individuals who would be available to volunteer during the event as well, please let us know.
Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
Refunds will be available in case of emergency or if a blizzard truly prevents travel for your team.
Do NOT expect the event to be canceled due to normal winter weather. Not all teams will need to drive over the same mountain passes, and there are multiple routes to get here. We will do our best to still hold the event for any teams that can make it, even if there are storms in other areas.
Daytime travel is safer regardless of weather. If this requires planning to spend the night before/after, take this into account as you plan. Or at least make a contingency plan for your team to do so.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
Refunds should be sought and can reasonably be expected for all teams.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Refunds will be available in case of emergency or if a blizzard truly prevents travel for your team. See emergency/bad weather policy. If the event goes on despite the weather, but your team is prevented from travel by road conditions on your route, you MUST contact us in advance of the event date in order to receive even a partial refund. Please contact us promptly if your situation changes and prevents your attending.
We greatly appreciate early registration. Courtesy refunds are possible if your plans change (such as reducing the number of teams coming from one organization). Full refunds are possible by notifying the event organizer of changes or cancellation at least 2 weeks in advance.
Many costs will be committed based on the on-time registrations. Accordingly, requests for refunds that are made less than 2 weeks before the event will be reduced or denied based on our inability to recoup resources already committed.
Judging Format
- Remote Engineering Notebooks with In-Person Judging day of event. - The Team Interviews will take place in-person the day of the event. However, we need your engineering notebooks digitally in advance--they will be accessed on or after Februray 14 so please make sure anything that needs to be seen by the judges is in by that date, including updating of links, sharing permissions, and content within the document is as you want it to be seen.
