General Information:

Greetings League Participants Thank you for being a part of the Kern Middle School Robotics League, without you, any this would not be possible. We have put in a great deal of planning to make your experience a very positive one, but as you might expect, there are some ground rules that we need to set to keep things running smoothly.

Check in first, if you will be unable to participate in the league, we need to know as quickly as possible so that we can allow teams on the wait list to have a chance to participate. Please make checks payable to Bakersfield City School District. 

 

In an effort to start on time, we need all teams checked in no later than 8:00 in the morning, and inspected no later than 8:30. Those teams not checked in and inspected by those times will be dropped from contention for the entire day of the event without refund of registration fees. Should you be stuck in traffic or have issues in transit, please call Lisa Elisondo at (661) 631-4779.

League Dates:

October 7, 2023: First set of preliminary matches that count for standings. All Teams required to attend.

November 11, 2023:Second set of preliminary matches that count for standings. All teams required to attend.

December 2, 2023: Third and final set of preliminary matches that count for standings.

                          Judging and alliance selection will occur on this date.

January 20, 2024 (Finals): Playoffs and Awards. Only teams that qualified for playoffs are required to attend.

This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

7:30am: Team Arrivals / Pit Open Team Check-In and Registration Practice Field Opens Inspection Table Opens

7:45am: All Teams MUST be Checked-in. 

8:20am: All Teams Must be Inspected.  

8:40am: Team Meeting (in stands)

8:55am: Opening Ceremony – Please stop work on robots during this time

9:00am: Matches Begin Skills Challenge Field Opens

11:30am -12:00pm: Lunch Break

12:00pm: Matches Resume

12-00pm -2:00pm: Skills Challenge Field (closes promptly)

2:00 - 3:00pm: Discretionary competition time as needed

Health and Safety policy will match the current local guidelines and will be updated/communicated within 1 week of the event.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

There will be no refunds due to fixed costs associated with this event.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

There will be no refunds due to fixed costs associated with this event.

Judging Format

 

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
