Health and Safety Policies
For the 2022-2023 school year, Loyola Blakefield remains a mark-optional setting.
We ask that a student who has symptoms of an infectious illness such as COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and gastrointestinal infections, should refrain from attending the tournament until (s)he is symptom-free for 24 hours. If symptoms, known exposure, or consultation with a healthcare provider necessitate a COVID-19 test, (s)he should remain home until he receives a negative test (rapid or PCR test is accepted). The following chart provides guidance for students and staff for a variety of COVID-19 scenarios:
If a student attends the tournament and then tests positive for COVID-19 shortly after, please contact our school nurse: kklug@loyolablakefield.org or 443-841-3348. Full compliance with reporting procedures enables us to track any on-campus exposure and to partner with the Baltimore County Department of Health most efficiently on any necessary contact tracing and outreach.
Per the Maryland Department of Health, Universal contact tracing is no longer recommended in schools. Community members (staff, students, etc.) who test positive for COVID-19 are encouraged to notify their own close contacts. Close contacts are defined as someone who was less than 6 feet away from an infected person (laboratory-confirmed or a clinical diagnosis) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes). An infected person can spread SARS-CoV-2 starting 2 days before they have any symptoms (or, for asymptomatic people, 2 days before the positive specimen collection date).
We encourage all attendees to pursue vaccinations/boosters to provided added protection against community spread and severe illness. Hand sanitizer will be available at the event. Frequent hand-washing is encouraged.
