Welcome teams! We are excited for you to attend the Senior Recognition Spin UP!

State Qualifier Senior Recognition Spin-up at Desert Ridge

Middle School Excellence * If 10 middle school teams sign up.

 This is a blended event (HS and MS together) so the number of Excellence Awards will be determined by the VRC Qualifying Criteria document on page 4.

We are planning on in-person interviews, please bring a printed version of your Engineering notebook.

Pits

The Pits will be located inside the mini gym and yoga room. A modified Frisbee Golf course will be set up in the courtyard for your enjoyment. 

Events

The event will be held in the Gymnasium (Building Three). Teams should park in the student parking lot, across from the basketball and tennis courts, located near the intersection of Guadalupe and Crimson. Building three is located straight and to the right of the student parking lot. Spectators are welcome.

Doors open at 7:30 am.  The event is in the gymnasium of Desert Ridge High School

Health and Safety Policies

Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, health and safety policies are subject to change. Please check the "Health and Safety Policies" tab for current policies and more information. Masks are optional.

Concessions

Concessions will be offered at this event and we encourage you to take advantage of the food, drink, and snacks throughout the day. For your convenience, teams will also be allowed to bring food into the building. An eating area will be set up so that people are not eating in the gym. Thank you for your cooperation. If you like to Pre-order Pizza there will be a form sent out closer to event time.

Competition Preparation

This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for the competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

  1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. The inspection checklist can be found on the Documents tab.
  2. Check the official game manual and Q&As at robotevents.com for rule updates and changes.
  3. Carefully read all of the information contained on this webpage and emails sent to participants
  4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
    • Safety Glasses
    • Spare parts & tools
    • Batteries, chargers, and a power strip
    • Micro USB cable
    • Laptop computer
    • Engineering notebook
    • Banners and other decorations for your team pit
    • Giveaways if you have them
  5. Ensure your robot brain has the latest version of the firmware.
  6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.
  7. Prep for your interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

Participation and Consent Form

Consent forms are required for all students, mentors, and coaches on a VRC team. Consent forms are now done online one time and are good for the entire season at all REC run events. Please be sure to complete the online participation release form.

All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices.   • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
