General Info

This is the Delmarva Championship for the 2021 game Tipping Point - This is the Middle School Event

This will be an in-person event.   This event is for teams in the Delmarva Region (Maryland east of the Susquanna river, Delaware and the counties of Northhampton and Accomack, Virginia.  

You must have attended one event prior to the Delmarva Championship.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

8:00 Doors open - Inspection Starts

9:00 Opening remarks, introduction of referees and staff

9:15 First Qualification Match - Inspection Closes - Skills open

12-12:30 Lunch (Skills will close across lunch) 

12:30 - 2:00 Qualification Matches

2:15 - Alliance selection, Eliminations Start - We will attempt to have everyone play in the eliminations

4:00 - Awards

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of bad weather that presents a danger to teams traveling to the event, the event will be canceled. 

INVITATIONS TO WORLDS WILL BE GIVEN ACCORDING TO DELMARVA SKILLS RANKING.  Please make sure that your teams have done a skills run prior to this event. 

 

Refund and Payment Policies

Registered teams that choose to cancel must do so no later than seven days prior to the event to receive a full refund minus the $5 RECF Registration fee. Teams that withdrawal with fewer than seven days will be responsible to pay the full registration fee.

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, teams will be contacted as early as possible and event registration fees will be refunded minus the $5 RECF processing fee.

Health and Safety Policies

We will be following the State of Delaware and the Delaware Department of Education Covid guidelines.

All teams must wear masks at all times

We will ask teams to use hand sanitizer when possible and to keep spacing between people. 

Food and drink will not be allowed in the pit and competition areas.  Food must be consumed in the cafeteria areas or in the courtyard space adjacent to the cafeteria.

Travel Info

The event is North of Wilmington Delaware.  I95 is under construction, teams should allow extra time (at least 15 minutes) for travel through Wilmington.   It's suggested that you take 495 and get off at the  Philadelphia Pike Exit.  Turn right and then at the next light turn left.  In 2.1 miles will be the signs for Talley Middle School. 

The event is in the Gym, you can enter into the parking lot marked Bus Only.  Additional Parking is in the front of the school.   Do not park in the blue zones.

Judging Format

We will be doing a hybrid for judging. 

  •  Electronic Engineering Notebook Submissions: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the Event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted electronically for evaluation, submission deadline for notebooks is Tuesday 12:01 AM.  PDF format for the notebook is required.  Please scan your paper notebook or convert your electronic notebook to PDF format.
