We're looking forward to having your team compete in the "Tipping Point" competition! This event is open to both high school and middle school VRC teams and will qualify teams for the Maryland State Vex Championship. The event will open on Friday evening, February 11, for early inspection and Skills Challenges from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. We encourage you to come early with your robot. The pit area will be locked overnight and you'll be ready to go in the morning!
As the event approaches, please monitor e-mail for additional information regarding event logistics, food pre-ordering and weather-related updates. Calvert Hall has its own private snow removal team, so we will do everything possible to conduct the event without jeopardizing safety of participants. Our goal is to have teams compete in at least 6 matches total during qualifications. Matches will run at 1 match every 3.5 minutes.
Volunteer
Volunteers are always key to a successful competition. There are many opportunities available for volunteers of all experience levels. We're happy to train you "on the job!" To volunteer for this event, please contact Renie Brown at [email protected] or register at our sign-up link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4aa4aa2ea13-2020. Thank you!
Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
Our event has historically had to deal with bad weather. Calvert Hall has a private contracting service to quickly remove snow and ice from walkways and parking lots. Because we are a private school, we will do everything possible to host the event, even if public school policies close school on Friday. Stay tuned to this website for additional information as the event approaches. Please monitor e-mail on the day of the event for bulk information as well.
In the event of postponement, we will attempt to hold the event at a later date (TBD - Saturday only).
Refund and Payment Policies
Refunds will be considered on a case by case basis but are not guaranteed. Because this event traditionally has a wait list, we request payment at the earliest possible date. Unpaid registrations are subject to cancellation. e-mail [email protected] for inquiries.
Health and Safety Policies
Stay Safe!
Calvert Hall has a mask mandate. Masks will be required indoors. No general public spectators will be allowed. If you wish to view parts of the competitions, please sign up to volunteer at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4aa4aa2ea13-2020.
Judging Format
In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
