1/27/22 WEATHER RELATED UPDATE: Rockingham County Schools and the Morehead High School Robotics team have made the decision to postpone the NC VRC Northern Qualifier. The tournament is rescheduled for Saturday 2/12/2022. We are forecasted to accumulate 2" - 4" of snow starting Friday evening going into Saturday morning. This will not allow ample time to allow for safe travel and everyone's safety is our top priority. We understand that this will affect several teams as there is another tournament scheduled that day, unfortunately, we are limited on our dates for rescheduling. I apologize for any trouble or inconvenience this may create. We are eagerly looking forward to seeing everyone on February 12th.
We are looking forward to hosting you and your teams in what promises to be an amazing event with teams from all over North Carolina. Please refer to the agenda tab for the schedule. We anticipate that each team will have seven competition rounds for this event, however, this may change due to the number of registered teams and match reset rates. This event is subject to cancellation or change by the school and/or district due to COVID. Currently, we are planning an in-person event as close to normal as possible. Some Middle School specific awards may not be given out depending on the number of middle school teams that register. We will give them out if we get enough teams.
Note; Details for this event could change as COVID protocols will dictate how the event can be run and any team participation restrictions. We will currently be requiring all team members and guests to be masked while on school property.
Current COVID protocols in place conforming with the health department, school, district, and local policies/requirements which include (but are not limited to)
- Masks/face covering currently optional as of 1/20/22
- Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms must stay home and are not allowed in the facility.
- Please limit the number of student and adult (coach/mentor) participants.
- Please limit your attending spectators.
- Please follow all social distancing guidelines.
Please refer to the Health and Safety Policies Link. This page will be updated closer to the event with specific health and safety requirements.

Health and Safety Policies
Rockingham County Schools is currently utilizing a Mask Optional Policy. Mask usage is highly encouraged, however it is the responsability of the individual to decide if they wear a mask. We continue to encourage maintaining safe health practices and physical distancing as much as possible. We ask that participating teams limit the number of students, coaches and spectators to only those necessary. Please use your best discretion when making these decisions. We want everyone to have a healthy, safe, exciting, and entertaining time at the event. We respectfully ask that anyone displaying "any" Covid like symptoms to not attend the event.
If you have any health related concerns, here are the current NCDHHS recommendations:
With the highly contagious Omicron variant spreading rapidly, NCDHHS is recommending a layered approach to protecting your friends and family and yourself from COVID-19. Get vaccinated, and boosted when eligible, wear a mask, and use social distancing in public places. We recommend a well-fitting, high-quality mask with multiple layers: a surgical or procedure mask, a KN95, or an N95. (Updated Jan. 5, 2022)
