Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the unlikely event of the Event Partner canceling the tournament due to bad weather, a makeup date will be scheduled.  If you are unable to attend the makeup date, a refund of $85 (registration less the $5 per team REC processing fee) will be issued.

Refund and Payment Policies

This may be another challenging season for VEX robotics.  As we all work to navigate how to safely engage young people in robotics competitions a lot of flexibility and understanding is needed.

The refund policy is not meant to penalize any participants.  It is what I feel is fair for all parties involved.

If the event is canceled because of restrictions put forth by Benzie Central Schools, the Benzie/Leelanau Health Dept., or the State of Michigan all teams will be issued a refund of $85.  This is less the $5 fee the REC assesses and helps keep Husky Robotics from going into the red for making the effort to host a face to face tournament.  Please understand that getting these refunds back to teams will take some time.

If your team is not able to participate because of restrictions placed on your team by your parent organization (school, club, etc) or local Health Department you may ask for a refund of up to $85.

If your team is not able to participate because one of your team members has tested positive for or is suspected of having COVID-19 AND you are unable to find a substitute driver you may ask for a refund of up to $40.

If your team does not participate for any other reason there is no refund available.

Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Marc Alderman
