General Info

 

**All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. We will continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.

We’re  very excited that you’re considering the GTACS Change Up In-Person Tournament.

INVITATION ONLY:  We are restricting this event to northern MI teams to help slow the spread of COVID-19.  By registering, your team will be placed on the wait list.  The Event Partner will then approve your team to join the event if you are from our region and we have communiated via phone or email.

Small Event Backup Plan: If venue limitations exist at the time of this event, we will break the event into smaller mini-tournaments and still play LIVE.  This may include creating 2 seperate events in order to meet the person-venue limitations.

Judging:  We will be using the ZOOM Platform for Remote Judging.  Notebooks must be submitted electronically by Midnight on Friday, February 4th.  Interviews will be schedule via ZOOM.  Your team will need to have acess to a web camera on computer, tablet or mobile phone.

Skills: Skills will be available on a scheduled basis.  

Tournamnet: We will be playing in a single tournamnet, meaning that your team will interview and do skills in the morning and play in the tournmanet in the afternoon.  

Additional Notes:

  • Skills and Judging Interviews will be scheduled in the morning.
  • Tournament will be in the afternoon.
  • Teams may only enter the skills area during their schedule time.
  • Each team may only have 3 student team members and 1 mentor/adult present at the event.  Additional students or adults will be turned away.
  • Teams and Mentor must stay in their pit area unless they are playing in a match.
  • Teams must maintain 6 feet minimum distance between other teams unless playing in a match.
  • Masks are required if you are in the building.
  • Teams are expected to use hand sanitizer prior to placing their robot on the field and resetting game elements.
  • Spectators will NOT be permitted.
  • Food will NOT be permitted (individual water bottles are permitted)
  • All team registrations MUST BE PAID within 2 weeks of your team registration date and at least 1 week prior to the event.  Failure to meet these payment policies may result in your team being moved to the waitlist.

  • Remote Interview and Skills will be scheduled in the morning 
  • Maximum Skills per team: 3 Driver and 3 Programming (not to exceed 15 min. schedule block) 
    • 9:00am              Pre-Scheduled Interviews begin (Only teams that have submitted notebooks)
    • 10:30 am           Inspections Open (Teams must arrive no later than 11:30)
    • 10:30am            Skills field open for all teams (Skills not required)
    • 12:00pm             Qualification Rounds Begin
    • 2:30pm              Alliance Selection 
    • 3:00pm              Finals & Awards

**Food will NOT be permitted in the competition space, gym or school.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

This is an In-Person Live event.  In the event of any cancelations, state restrictions or weather, we will post any cancelation updates in this section. 

Refund Policy

There are typically no refunds for this event. Please see below for our COVID-19 refund policy.

All team registrations MUST BE PAID within 2 weeks of your team registration date and at least 1 week prior to the event.  Failure to meet these payment policies may result in your team being moved to the waitlist.

COVID-19 and weather Refund Policies

If we cancel the event due to COVID-19 or any other reason, we will issue refunds for the event, reschedule the event, or apply the funds to a different event we are running at our discression.

Any refunds will be issued only after payment is received from the REC Foundation. No refunds will include the $5 that is kept by the REC Foundation for credit card processing.

Refunds will not be offered in cases where we do not cancel the event. Please consider potential travel restrictions and weather when signing up and paying for the event.

Health and Safety Policies

  • A health screening questionair will be sent to all teams 1 week prior to the event
    • We expect every person who enters the facility to go through the screening questions on their own, the morning of the event
  • Teams will only be permitted in the buidling during their schedule Division time, Skills Match time or Interview Time
  • Each team may only have 3 student team members and 1 mentor/adult present at the event.  Additional students or adults will be turned away
  • Teams and Mentor must stay in their pit area during Division Tournament unless they are playing in a match
  • Teams must remain in their Intervview Room or Skills area during their scheduled block
  • Teams must maintain 6 feet minimum distance between other teams to the fullest extent possible
  • Masks are required at all times if you are in the building
  • Teams are expected to use hand sanitizer prior to touching any common item not owned by the individual team
  • Event staff will disinfect team tables and chairs prior to a new team occupying that space for their division, interview or skills match.
  • Spectators will NOT be permitted.
  • Food will NOT be permitted (individual water bottles are permitted)
