Thank you for your interest in this tournament for new teams. This tournament is designed to allow new teams to compete with a VEX Clawbot or CrunchBot, learn the basics of tournament play, and have a great time at an early season tournament. NO OTHER ROBOTS WILL BE ALLOWED. This is a great place to get your new teams excited about robotics and the competition season ahead. Your paid registration will include lunch for competing students and coaches (pizza, drink, cookie).
All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.
Due to safety restrictions, only competing students and 2 coaches from each organization will be allowed to be on our campus. No spectators are allowed, but we will be webcasting the event on YouTube Live (link can be found in the Webcast tab). We will require the name of each participating student and coach by September 20th (submit this information HERE). Every attendee is required to bring a completed COVID-19 waver (found in the Documents tab), will be screened for temperature and symptoms prior to entry, and is required to wear a mask covering both their mouth and nose at all times. Anyone who has not completed the waver, shows symptoms of illness, or is unable to keep their mask on will be asked to leave.
Participants are also required to submit the VEX liability release form electronically.
This tournament will have Qualification matches, Alliance Selection, and an Elimination Bracket. Skills Challenges will be available to teams first thing in the morning and during lunch. There will be no judged awards at this event.
The Build instructions for the CrunchBot robot can be found here: https://content.vexrobotics.com/docs/276-8001-755-web-2.pdf
Two of Brentwood Academy's alumni built the CrunchBot over the summer, and created a set of modified instructions that improve stability. These instructions can also be used, and can be found in the Documents tab for this event. Only Clawbots and CrunchBots built using the VEX build or Iron Eagles alumni instructions may compete. No other robot variations will be accepted.
Teams may not make modifications that alter or enhance the performance of the CrunchBot or Clawbot. For any robot modification questions, please email the EP.
We're looking forward to a great tournament!
