Thanks for considering our tournament! We've taken great steps to create an event that will be as safe as possible in the face of COVID-19. We'll be following both REC and CDC recommendations for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.
This event is a TN State Qualifier where winning teams will be invited to state. The number of invitees will be determined later by our regional manager.
This is a blended event with both MS and HS teams participating.
The event is 50,000 square feet of open air with a roof and everything else we need. We ask that everyone wear a mask while attending and we'll also structure the event with physical distancing and regular sanitation in effect as well. Concessions will not be offered, but there are many options close to the event and there is parking only steps away from the venue so you'll be able to jump in your car and get what you need. Please feel free to email me with any other questions you may have.
This pavillion is Chattanooga's 3rd oldest building that is still standing. It's an old foundry with a lot of character and history. We just walked it with the manager and have a number of things to add to the description.
Cool stuff: within a stone's throw of the structure is a restaurant (Naked River Brewery) as well as a dog park and a skate park that are open to the public for free.
There is also room for spectators. They'll want to bring their own chair if they want to sit and be sure to wear a mask and maintain six feet of separation from other people.
The pavillion is open air, so be sure to dress for the weather: it may be cold, damp, etc. There are no heaters and no A/C. There are also some skylights, so there is a chance that students may want to have a hat with a brim or sunglasses to keep the sun out of their eyes while at the field at certain times of the day.
There are ton of power outlets, but each team will want to bring an extension cord and a splitter. Each team will have a large open section for a pit, and there are steel beams where teams can hang team banners if they have them. Tables and chairs will be provided in the pits.
Per REC's recommendations, there will not be a practice field, but there is a ton of space, so teams are welcome to bring their own portion of a field to use in their pit for practice if they'd like (similar to what they do at Worlds).
Finally, there will be a parking fee for cars (but not busses). We're currently working with the city to give us a code for a flat rate for our visitors. I'll email everyone when I find out for sure, but please be prepared to pay for parking at a kiosk in one of the parking lots. Currently it's a dollar an hour, but we're working to reduce it to a modified daily rate.
THIS IS PRELIMINARY AND MAY CHANGE.
7:00-10:00 AM VEX VRC Event Check-In/Registration/Compliance Check (Teams must check in no later than 9:30, and be in the inspection line by 10:00)

11:15 AM Qualification Matches Begin
7:00AM-4:00 PM Skills Field Open (We'll try to have multiple fields open early for local teams to knock out skills early while we wait for Nashville teams. This will also free up time for out of town teams to efficiently get their skills in.)

1:30-5:30 PM Qualification Matches Continue
5:30 PM Alliance Selection
6:00-7:00 PM Elimination Matches and Awards
An event of this size takes so many volunteers to pull off. Reach out to my volunteer coordinator Candace Carlton if you'd like to volunteer. Here are some of the jobs.
Team herder (finding when called and getting them to the field.)
And many more.
In the event that the event is cancelled because of weather, pandemic, etc, we will reschedule to a future date. Refunds will not be given because of the expense of renting the facility. The EP, at their discretion, may be able to credit the registration fees to future events in the event that a team is not able to attend the rescheduled date.
Due to the expense of renting this facility, refunds will not be given for teams that are unable to attend the event. The EP reserves the right to credit the registration fee to future events hosted by CCS but is not obligated to do so.
To maximize the safety of our students and guests, we'll be taking health precautions very seriously, utilizing both the REC and CDC's guidelines at our event. Details can be found here.
There are many hotels in the Chattanooga area. Our event on the South side of Downtown.
We will livestream event via our youtube channel and it will be available to the public after the event.
