General Info
Kiwibots presents the 2020-21 New Zealand VEX Robotics Competition National Championships!
We are so excited to be partnering with Auckland Unlimited and returning to the marvellous Vodafone Events Centre for this incredible event. VRC Teams from across the country will compete over two days to gain the coveted title of National Champions and to qualify for invitations on the global stage at the World Championships in Dallas, Texas.
Registration Fee
The registration fee for this event is $150 NZD. Please do not pay through RobotEvents as teams will be invoiced through KIWIBOTS directly. Teams who have provided fields (and co-ordinated with KIWIBOTS in advance) will be eligible for a $50 discount on their registration. A school/organisation can provide multiple fields to allow multiple $50 discounts. Please contact [email protected] to organise a field provision.
With the generous support of our sponsors, we are able to offer a financial accessibility programme for all our non-Auckland teams competing, with a discount of $50 per team to help ease the financial pressure of travelling to Auckland. This discount will be automatically applied, there is no need to request this, and you will see it as a line item on your invoice.
Check-in
The check-in for the event will be held on Friday 5th March from 14:00 (2pm) to 17:00 (5pm). Teams must present at least one team member with the robot to check-in and complete inspection in order to be able to compete at the event. Teams who do not check in on the Friday 5th March will not be included in qualification matches over the weekend, 6th and 7th.
**Times shown are subject to changes as the schedule is still being finalised. Note that this event is contingent to Alert Level 1 being in place. If we are at Level 2 or other, the event will be cancelled. Please take this into consideration for booking of any services such as flights, accommodation etc.
Design Notebooks
Design notebooks need to be submitted before the start of the tournament 9am Saturday 6th March. For ease, we will be collecting Design Notebooks at the check-in on Friday 5th.
If you have been completing a Digital Notebook for this season, this must be printed out and submitted in hard copy to be considered for the Design Award (and Excellence Awards). Please see the Judging Guide and Judging Addendum released by RECF if you have any concerns.
Other Information
We have some brilliant judges lined up and can't wait to share more information about this event as it unfolds. There will also be booths at this event, featuring Rocos with Spot the Boston Dynamics Robot, The University of Auckland, Centre for Automation and Robotic Engineering Science, VR Voom, Xero, Rocket Lab, and many other awesome organisations who have opportunities to share, especially for high school and unviersity students. We are currently working on a hands-on area too so if you want to give robotics a go, you can try it out there!
More information for competitors and volunteers will be released soon, so keep an eye out for updates!
