General Info

Welcome to the Seventh Annual Streets of Bakersfield Robotics Extravaganza!  This year we are limiting the event to 48 teams.  As this started out as a Rookie Only event eight years ago, we hold 5 spots  for rookie teams to have a chance to play in the event.  We classify 'rookie' by a team from a school that is new to VRC competition this season, not a team added this year to an school that is already competing.  Please call Mr Henderson at (661) 304-4378 to reserve your spot.  The reason that we are holding spots is as many of you remember, on your first year of competition, that by the time you figured out that you needed to sign up for tournaments they were all filled up.

Unfortunately last season several teams signed up, filled the event, then pulled out and asked for refunds. We could not fill the empty spots at the last minute.  This year we will not give refunds to teams who sign up and then pull out of the event.  So if you don't plan to compete in this event don't sign up for it.  Leave the event open for folks who want to compete, not play games.

Finally, we will need all teams on site no later than 8:00AM on January 11.  We plan to get the competetion rolling no later than 8:45AM.  If you are having difficulty getting to the event on Saturday morning, please call me, Tom Henderson, at (661) 304-4378.  Teams that have not arrived, or called by 8:00AM will be dropped from the event.  To that end, we will have the venue open Friday evening (January 10) from 4:00PM  to 5:30PM for teams to check-in early.  We will check in robots and inspect them at that time to free up inspectors on Saturday morning.  Please check the hotel listings on the Travel Information page for information on nice places to stay here in Bakersfield that are only about 10 minutes away from the venue.
