General Info

The New Mexico VRC State Championship Tournament will be held at Garfield STEM School, February 29th 2020.  

This Event will award 7 spots to the VEX Robotics 2020 VEX Worlds Championship, and 5 spots to the 2020 CREATE U.S. Open Championship!  

This event will award five of the seven World Championshp spots, and the remaining two spots will be awarded from the World Skills Rankings for the State, up to and including the State Championship.  Please see the Awards tab for the list of qualifying awards.

SPREAD THE WORD about the State Championship with your friends and neighbors!  The New Mexico VEX Robotics State Championships are open to all teams in the New Mexico region who register for the 2019-2020 season.  Go to RobotEvents.com to register a team for the season.

The due date for payments received is February 26, 2020. 

If you need to make any changes to your contact information or registration status, please contact Chaushie Forster at chaushie.forster@aps.edu.  Remember that refunds are not possible due to the planning nature of the event.

A few useful reminders:

  • We will have a concession stand open all day, possibly a lunchtime food truck, and a Kona Ice truck.  We will not be stopping for Lunch.

  • Review the rules(Tower Takeover Game Manual Found Here) and run through theInspection Checklist V-5 Version (Found Here) and Inspection Checklist Cortex Version (found here) about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. The inspection checklist can also be found on the Documents Tab. Read the document '101 Things To Know Before Your First VEX Tournament', found HERE. 

  • Pack for the event the day before the day of departure.  Here are a few items that you don't want to forget: Spare parts & tools, Batteries and chargers, Programming cable, Power strip & extension cord, Laptop computer, Engineering notebook (if you have one, REQUIRED for Design and Excellence Awards ), Banners and other decorations for your team pit, Giveaways if you have them.

  • Please understand how the game will be played.  Participants should thoroughly read the game rules.  Additional rulings and interpretations of the game rules can be found on the Offical VEX Forum. All of our referees have taken a passed a certification test.

  • Please upload your Participation Release Form (found on the Documents Tab) to Robotevents.com to make check-in much quicker.  A completed form for all participants must be turned in order to compete. Team leaders will need to collect the completed forms for all team members attending the event and turn them in to the registration desk when checking in, if you have not done so electronically.  The Participant Release Form can be found on the Documents Tab.

As you know, Garfield STEM School and the REC Foundation believes that we have the ability to make a difference in our community and are dedicated to serving our city and its students. With this in mind, we are requesting Volunteers, especially from the Albuquerque Tech Industry.  For 4 hours on a Saturday or 2 hours on a Friday afternoon.
