Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

VEX Robotics Competition Agenda

Date: January 31, 2026

Location: Canadian County Fairgrounds and Expo – El Reno, OK

7:00 AM – 8:00 AM: Venue Setup

• Staff and Volunteers Arrive: Begin setup of competition fields, pit areas, registration tables, and seating.

• Teams Arrive: Teams may begin unloading and preparing their pit stations.

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Team Check-In and Robot Inspection

• Check-In: Teams register and collect event materials.

• Robot Inspection: Officials verify that all robots meet VRC size and rule requirements. Inspection is mandatory to compete.

8:30 AM – 8:45 AM: Opening Ceremony

• Welcome Address: Remarks from the Event Coordinator and an overview of the day.

• National Anthem

• Team Introductions: Recognition of all participating teams.

8:45 AM – 11:15 AM: Qualification Rounds Begin

• Match Play: Teams participate in scheduled qualification matches.

• Judging: In-person judging for awards (Design, Excellence, etc.) occurs throughout.

11:15 AM – 12:00 PM: Lunch Break

• Concessions Available: Food trucks and vendors on-site; teams may also bring lunch or explore local eateries.

• Practice Field Open: Available for adjustments and testing.

12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Qualification Rounds Continue

• Continued Match Play

• Skills Challenge Open: Driver and programming skills runs available during match gaps.

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Alliance Selection

• Top Teams Choose Partners: Based on rankings, teams select alliances for the elimination tournament.

2:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Elimination Rounds

• Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Finals: The top alliances face off in a bracket-style elimination to crown the champion of Red Dirt Push Back!

4:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Awards Ceremony

• Recognition & Awards: Includes Tournament Champion, Excellence Award, Design Award, Skills Champion, and more.

• Closing Remarks: A thank-you to teams, volunteers, sponsors, and staff.

5:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Event Breakdown and Departure

• Team Pack-Up: Teams collect their gear and prepare to depart.

• Volunteer Tear-Down: Cleanup and field disassembly.

Additional Notes:

• Pit Area: Open all day for teams to repair and improve their robots.

• Skills Challenge: Available until alliance selection at 2:00 PM.

Do you have a passion for STEM and want to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators? Volunteer at our upcoming VEX Robotics Competition and be a part of an exciting event where students showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork!

Volunteer Roles Available:

• Field Setup: Help set up the competition field and ensure everything is ready for the matches.
• Judging: Assist in evaluating team performances, design processes, and engineering notebooks.
• Refereeing: Oversee matches, enforce rules, and ensure fair play.
• Scorekeeping: Manage scoring systems and help maintain accurate results.
• Team Queuing: Organize and direct teams to their matches, ensuring smooth transitions.
• Registration: Welcome participants, handle check-ins, and provide event information.

Time Commitment: Shifts are flexible and can be as short as a few hours or the whole day.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations please visit the event on Robotevents.com where updates will be posted about the event status as needed. Please feel free to contact me by email  ( [email protected] ) if you are going to be late to the event.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event:  Refunds are unavailable as the district is still required to pay for the venue.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: No refunds will be available, but the registration can be transferred to another team that has not paid.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
