General Info

Welcome to Wrangler's High Stakes, a Nevada State Qualifying Tournament at West Career and Technical Academy in Summerlin. 

Venue
The competition will take place in the gym at West Career and Technical Academy. Pits will be located in the cafeteria next door. 

Parking
Please park on the west side of campus and enter the school through the main west-side entrance. 

Concessions/Lunch
Concessions will be sold on site throughout the day. Pizza will be sold during the lunch break. Please contact the event partner if you would like to preorder pizza.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

  • 7:00 AM - 8:30AM    Pits open, inspection, and registration begins
  • 8:35AM - 9:00AM     Registration and Inspection closed/Drivers meeting
  • 8:45AM - 9:00AM     Welcome Ceremony
  • 9:00AM - 12:00PM   Qualifying matches
  • 12:00PM - 1:00PM   Lunch (Pizza for sale to support WCTA Robotics)
  • 1:00PM - 3:30PM     Qualifying matches
  • 3:30PM                     Alliance Selection
  • 4:00PM - 5:00PM     Elimination Matches
  • 5:00PM - 5:15PM     Final Awards
  • 5:15PM                    Team Load-out  (Help with breakdown is appreciated)

*Please be aware that the event will move with the matches. This means that your match may take place earlier than it is written on the schedule!!! Please keep track of matches and be sure you are at the queuing tables on time when your match is called! Teams who are not present when called to the field will be disqualified from that match. No exceptions.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart and soul of successful VEX competitions. Event Partners rely on Referees to keep things fair, Emcees to keep things exciting, and Queuers to keep things on schedule! Volunteering at a VEX competition is easy to learn, fun to do, and rewarding for everyone involved.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of weather that would lead to a cancellation of the event, we will do our best to inform you as early as possible via email. Please contact Dr. Sylvia-Monique Thomas at [email protected] if weather is a concern and please monitor the event status on RobotEvents.com. Cancellation information will be posted there.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: Refunds will be provided in the event the competition is cancelled.

 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

 

  • 50% refund on paid registration fees until November 25, 2024 minus $5 RobotEvents processing fee 
  • No refunds after November 26, 2024

 

 

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions/In-Person Team Interviews:

  • Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event.
  • Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents.com. 

    Digital Notebooks must be submitted by January 25, 2025 @ 11:59 pm.
