Welcome to the Desert Ridge High School Senior Night

 

We’re excited to host you for this year’s High Stakes event, featuring Senior Night celebrations! This special occasion will showcase a thrilling VEX Tournament and honor our senior participants. Here’s what you need to know:

Senior Night Celebrations

  • Senior Recognition: We will be celebrating our senior participants during the event. Please submit the names of your seniors by January 27 to ensure they are recognized.
  • T-shirts: Commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase. Each person is responsible for paying for their own T-shirt. Please place your order and complete payment by January 27.

Event Details

  • Competition: The event will feature two competition fields: a skills field and a practice field.
  • Slots: There are 40 slots available for the tournament. Ensure your team is marked as paid (or PO received) one week in advance, or a team from the waitlist may replace you.

Important Dates:

  • Payment Deadline: November 2. Teams not paid by this date will be moved to the waiting list.
  • Check-in Time: 7:00 a.m. sharp. Teams must check in 30 minutes before the start of qualification matches. Late teams may be removed from the list.

Event Schedule:

  • Doors Open: 7:30 a.m.
  • Spectators: Welcome

Parking and Facilities:

  • Pits: Located outside in the courtyard.
  • Parking: Available in the student parking lot across from the basketball and tennis courts, near Guadalupe and Crimson’s intersection.
  • Concessions: Available throughout the day. Teams may bring their own food; an eating area will be outside the gymnasium.

Event Structure

  • Blended Event: High School and Middle School teams will compete together. The number of Excellence Awards will be determined by the VRC Qualifying Criteria document on page 4.

Preparation Checklist

  • Engineering Notebook: Bring a printed version for in-person interviews.
  • Rules & Updates: Check the rules, inspection checklist, official game manual, and Q&As at robotevents.com.
  • Pack:

    • Batteries, Chargers, and a Power Strip
    • Micro USB Cable
    • Laptop Computer
    • Engineering Notebook
    • Banners and Decorations for Your Pit
    • Giveaways (if you have them)
  • Firmware: Ensure your robot brain has the latest version.

  • Requirement: Consent forms are required for all students, mentors, and coaches.

Please do not bring your team to this event if they are sick.  The following health screening questionnaire will be required of every team member and coach when they arrive at the event:

All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.

Judging Format

  • All In-Person Judging—The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in person on the event day. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges during the check-in process.
