General Info
Congratulations on your qualification for the 2025 Region 3 V5RC Middle School California State Championship.
We are really excited to host this year's regional championships at the California State University Bakersfield's Icardo Center.
This will be a full day of VEX robotics competition; the venue features three raised competition fields, two skills field, and two practice fields. More information will be sent out to registered teams closer to the event date, feel free to contact the event organizers at [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any questions.
All judging will be remote and take place prior to the event. Teams will need to provide a digital copy of their design notebook. Teams may bring a physical copy of their notebook to the event if changes were made to the robot between remote judging and the day of the event.
The following will qualifiy for VEX Worlds: Tournament Champions (2), Tournament Finalists (2), Excellence (1), and Design Award (1)

Saturday, March 15th:
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM (tentative) - Teams can get an initial inspection and complete up to 3 skills runs (depending on time allowance)
Sunday, March 16th:
Tentative Agenda - May change depending on number of competing teams
7:00 AM - Volunteer Check In
7:30 AM - Team Check in, Pit set up, robot inspection begins.
8:15 AM - Judging begins
8:30 AM ALL TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN THE EVENT NEED TO BE CHECKED IN OR WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE MATCH SCHEDULE.
8:30 AM - Event/Team Meeting, Pits & Practice Fields CLOSED
8:50 AM - Opening Ceremony, Pits & Practice Fields CLOSED
9:00 AM - Qualification Matches Begin
10:45AM - Qualification Match Break (Judging/Skills Continues)
11:15AM - Qualification Matches Resume
12:15 PM - Lunch break

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
If the event is going to be canceled due to inclement weather, all teams will be notified via email (at least 24 hours in advance if possible). As this will be an indoor event, cancellation is highly unlikely.
Teams should make sure their contact information is up to date in Robotevents and includes both school and non-school phone numbers.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
A full refund (minus $5 RECF Fee) will be given if the event is cancelled.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Due to fixed costs, no refunds will be issued for teams that withdraw or do not attend.
Judging Format
We are planning on Remote Judging for both Initial Interviews and Engineering Notebooks. Engineering notebooks are due Feb. 19th, 2025 for all teams. Teams invited from the waitlist after that date will be contacted directly.
- Online interviews will begin Feb. 26th and will run through March 12th. Teams will be sent information on how to sign up for an interview time slot.
- In-person 2nd interviews will occur on Sunday, March 16th 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Note: Not all teams will receive a second interview.
