General Info
Registration Information
All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.
Engineering notebooks
We will be collecting in-person engineering notebooks at this event for judging.

Competition Preparation
All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX V5 parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the V5 Robot Inspection Checklist

Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Guide to Juging. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your V5 Brain.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Do not worry about bring snacks. We have an amazing selection of food at our concession stand. Skills will run until the last Qualification match. You may finish a little earlier and you don't want teams to point at your agenda and say "but the agenda says 2:30pm".

Volunteer
Volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated! All volunteers are trained at the event, so there is no prior experience required. Some roles are for adults only, but many are open to students. All volunteers will be provided free lunch and drinks.
Students can earn community service hours for volunteering at the event! Students must bring a physical copy of their school's service hour form to the event to be signed by the Event Partner.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
In the event of an emergency cancellation or other change in plans, teams will be notified via the team contact information available through RobotEvents. Please check to insure contact emails and phone numbers are correct and up-to-date.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
Teams will receive a refund other than the RECF required $5.00 (if they charge this)
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Refunds will only be made if the event is cancelled by Nova High. Refunds will not include the $5 processing fee assessed by Robot Events for processing. Registrations will not be refunded for teams that register but choose not to come. The payment deadline is December 20th, 2024. If your team has not paid by that time they can be moved to the waitlist without contacting you".
Judging Format
All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in person during the event.
- All teams will receive at least one interview in their pit.
- ALL notebooks must be turned on Saturday morning by the close of morning Check-In, DO NOT TURN IN NOTEBOOKS FRIDAY NIGHT; only physical notebooks will be accepted - no digital links, thumb-drives, or QR codes will be accepted.
- Every team gets an interview! Prepare your team by looking over the questions on p. 41 in the Guide to Judging. All teams will be asked the same (3-5) questions for the initial interview. Interviews will last no more than 13 minutes giving every team equal access to the judges.
