Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If the event has to be cancelled due to weather, registrants will be notified and funds will be reimbursed. Please make sure your contact information is current in Robot Events.

In case of an emergency while on site all safety protocols will be adhered to.

Fort McMurray offers visitors access via provincial highways 881 and 63. In 2016 Highway 63 was twinned to increase safety and is the most direct route to the region from the south, approximately a 4.5 hour drive from Edmonton, and a 7 hour drive from Calgary.  There are multiple daily flights from Edmonton and Calgary to the Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM).

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges. If your team has a Digital Engineering Notebook, please make sure you print a hard copy as digital notebooks will not be accepted. If you have questions, please contact Holly at [email protected]
