General Info

The Blakefield Robotics Challenge IV - VRC High Stakes is waiting for you to join!  Come visit us at Loyola Blakefield, 500 Chestnut Avenue, Towson, MD 21204 for VRC - High Stakes! This event is for both Middle and High School robotics teams.

Doors will open at 6PM on Friday, January 24th for teams to access pits and complete inspections with Skills opportunities running from 6:30 PM until 8:00PM.

Doors will open again at 7:30AM on Saturday, January 25th with registration and inspection beginning at 8:00 AM. Teams not inspected by 8:30AM may not be added to the event so please plan to arrive early enough to allow set up time.

Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

*We will open skills at 8:00 AM and keep it open through lunch to close at the same time as the final qualification match.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, notification of the tournament status (cancelled/delayed) will be made on the Loyola Blakefield webpage at www.loyolablakefield.org

Loyola Blakefield has its own snow removal personnel who can clear and treat roads, sidewalks, and parking lots for weekend events. 

 

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather or other circumstance, the refund will be 75% of the registration fee. 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Full refunds for registered teams will be provided to teams that cancel before January 10, 2025.  After January 10, 2025 refunds will only be issued if the tournament fills and your team's space can be filled by a team on the waiting list.

Health and Safety Policies

For the 2024-2025 school year, Loyola Blakefield remains a mask-optional setting.

We ask that students, coaches, or parents who have symptoms of an infectious illness such as COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), or gastrointestinal infections, refrain from attending the tournament until (s)he is symptom-free for 24 hours. If symptoms, known exposure, or consultation with a healthcare provider necessitate a COVID-19 test, (s)he should remain home until he receives a negative test (rapid or PCR test is accepted). 

We encourage all attendees to pursue vaccinations/boosters to provided added protection against community spread and severe illness. Hand sanitizer will be available at the event. Frequent hand-washing is encouraged.

Travel Info

Loyola Blakefield is located at 500 Chestnut Avenue in Towson, MD 21204.

From Baltimore Beltway exit 25: We are located just 2 miles south of Baltimore Beltway (I-695) exit 25 - Charles Street. On the exit ramp, bear right and follow the signs for MD-139 South/Charles Street. Proceed through two traffic lights. At the third traffic light (governing a left turn only) - turn left onto Chestnut Avenue and proceed up hill to the entrance to Loyola Blakefield (tennis courts on the left, football field on the right). The tournament will be held in Knott Hall, the large building at the end of the football field with the clock tower.

From the North - Take I-83 South to Baltimore Beltway (I-695) East. On the exit ramp pick up with the directions from above.

From the South - Take I-95 North to Baltimore Beltway (I-695) North (exit 49B) toward Towson. From I-695 take exit 25 and follow directions from above.

From the West - Take I-70 East toward Baltimore. At its terminus take exit 91B (I-695 toward New York/Towson). Follow I-695 to exit 25 and follow directions from above.

From the Northeast - Take I-95 S towards Baltimore. Take exit 64 onto Baltimore Beltway I-695 west towards Towson. Take exit 25 and proceed to traffic light. At the light turn left onto Bellona Avenue. At the next light (Charles Street) turn left. Proceed through two three lights. At the fourth traffic light (governing a left turn only) - turn left onto Chestnut Avenue and proceed up hill to the entrance to Loyola Blakefield (tennis courts on the left, football field on the right). The tournament will be held in Knott Hall, the large building at the end of the football field with the clock tower.

From the Southeast - Take US-50 west to I-97 North. Proceed to I-95 west and follow directions from the South above

Judging Format

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
