Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Teams MUST be checked in by 9:30, as the match schedule will be run at that time and CANNOT be re-run. If your team is running late, call the Event Partner or the match schedule will be run WITHOUT your team.

8:30 am Inspection begins

9:30 am Inspection ends
9:45 Team & Driver meeting
10:00 Qualification matches

12:00n to 12:30 pm Lunch (concessions provided)


3:15 Qualification matches & Skills end
3:15 Alliance selection
3:30 Finals matches (Awards intermixed between rounds)
5:00 Final awards and closing

NOTES:
- Alliances will be 2 teams.
- All teams up to 32 will participate in the finals. (Note: Teams that decline invitations may inadvertently remove themselves from finals)
- If an odd number of teams, the last-ranked team should still attend Alliance Selection in case a team withdraws due to a problem with their robot.
- All finals matches will be one-and-done (no best-of-three matches).
- Ties in finals matches will be replayed until a winner is determined.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event that an emergency or inclimate weather cancels this tournament, coaches/contacts will be contacted through email and the event will be updated in RobotEvents. Final decisions will be made the night before the tournament. In the event of a cancellation, the tournament may be rescheduled depending on schedule constraints at Grand Island Senior High School.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

If the event cancels because of weather we will attempt to reschedule the event.  If it can not be rescheduled then there will be a full refund minus a $5 admin fee.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

If a team withdraws from the event before the registration deadline will receive a full refund minus a $5 admin fee. There will be no refunds if they withdraw after the registration deadline.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.

Judging will likely take place at a common area of the tournament. Judging will not happen in pits. Teams should make sure they are judged before the window closes.
