General Info

Welcome to our first Caution Tape Halloween qualifying tournament hosted in Markham PanAm Centre. The event will be offered to Ontario teams to qualify for the Ontario Provincial Championship in elevated competition experiences.

All participants including parents, coaches, mentors, and students must follow the rules in the Markham PanAm centre,

  • Indoor shoes only at the main gym, including the competition field, pit areas, etc. Bleachers are exempt from this.
  • Water only at the main gym, including the competition field, pit areas, etc. No food or drinks are allowed.
  • All wheels of dollies that will enter the main gym must be cleaned before entering.
  • No building/repairing robots on the gym floor and no tools can be left on the gym floor either.

Competition Preparation

This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for the competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

  1. Review the rules, and the code of conduct, and run through the inspection checklist
  2. Check the VEX Forum and the Q&A for official rule updates and changes.
  3. Carefully read all of the information contained in this tournament posting
  4. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament. 
  5. Prepare for your interviews with the judges. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
  6. Ensure that you have the latest version of the firmware.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If inclement weather poses challenges, our aim is to proceed with the tournament as scheduled. Timely updates will be distributed to all participating teams through email.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 
A full refund will be provided.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Full refunds minus 5% administration fee will be given to teams if they cancel by Noon on Friday, Oct 18th, 2024.  After that, no refund will be given.

  1. Payment is due on 5PM Oct 16th, 2024. Any teams who hasn't paid after the due date will be moved to waitlist.

Any teams that fail to pay the registration within these guidelines will be moved to the waitlist and the spot will be opened up to other teams.

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
