Get ready for an electrifying display of innovation and engineering prowess as the American School In Japan hosts our annual VEX V5 RC Robotics Tournament! This thrilling event gathers the brightest young minds from across the region, each team bringing their meticulously crafted robots to life in both the drive controlled and autonomous skills challenge. Watch as alliances go head to head in this season's exhilarating game High Stakes. With roaring crowds, intense competition, and a palpable sense of excitement that can be felt all through the campus, participants will push the boundaries of technology and creativity, vying for the coveted championship title. Join us two days of groundbreaking achievements and unforgettable moments as teams showcase their skills, teamwork, and unrelenting passion for robotics!

Teams from within Japan and outside Japan are all welcome to participate. We look forward to seeing you there!

Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Event is indoors. In the event of severe weather the event may be cancelled. Teams will be notified accordingly.

Refund and Payment Policies

Invoices will be sent to teams after the December 6th, 2024 deadline. Payment is due by January 10th. All payments are due by bank transfer. If a school is unable to pay via bank transfer, please contact [email protected].

Unpaid teams on Jan 10th will be removed from the event to allow teams on my waitlist to register. Please contact [email protected] if there are considerations to be made.

Health and Safety Policies

All teams are required to sign in and off of campus every day.

All participants are required to wear safety glasses while competing.

Travel Info

ASIJ works closely with a local travel agent who is fluent in english that can help schools book hotels and airport transportation if necessary. Please contact Eiji Fujimoto: [email protected]. We recommend that teams fly into Haneda International Airport if possible. Teams should plan to commute via train or buses to the venue. Taxies are available, however, they can be expensive.

Hotel within walking distance to the venue: Business Inn Grand All

Hotel within 1 train line of the venue: Hotel METS

Areas further from campus, but still on the main train line (JR Chuo-line) are: Kichijoji and Shinjuku

Parking:

There is limited parking on campus for visiting teams. There is a public parking lot nearby if teams would like to drive. Teams arriving via charter bus or school bus may be able to park on campus IF given prior notice to the event organizer. Buses and cars may NOT enter campus before 9:00 AM on Friday or 7:30 AM on Saturday.

Judging Format

Judging Format:

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
     
  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents.
