General Info

The Bowness Robotics V5RC Tournament event will be held in the main gym at Bowness High School, in Calgary.

There is room for 32 teams and will have a competition field, skills field and practice field. 

The bleachers will be available for spectators to view the fields and pit areas will be set up within the school. Please bring your own power expander. 

All teams are scheduled to have at least 6 qualification matches.  Elimination rounds will consist of 8 alliances of 2 teams.  Each team is guaranteed 3 programming & 3 driver robot skills challenge attempts.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

8:15am - Inspection starts
9:00am - Inspection Closes. Opening ceremonies and driver meeting
9:30am - 12:00 pm - Qualifications, skills challenges and judging begins
12:00pm - 12:45 pm - Lunch
12:45pm - 4:00 pm - Qualifications, skills challenges and judging continue
4:00pm - Alliance selection
4:30 pm - Eliminations
5:30pm - Awards
6:00pm - Cleanup

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

We will run this event in almost any weather as long as Bowness High School is open and even if many teams are unable to attend.

Refund and Payment Policies

All registration payments must be received two weeks after registration or your team will be moved to the waitlist until paid.  Unless arrangements have been made with the Event Partner.  If there is still room you will be added to the tournament.

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

Full refunds will be provided to teams.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

Bowness High School is unable to refund money to teams that are unable to attend.  We will arrange a credit toward the next tournament at Bowness High School if we are given two weeks notice.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams wished to be judge, MUST bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
