General Info

We are excited to host the 2025 New Mexico VEX IQ State Championship!

Please Join STEM Southwest Podcast and R4Creating as we present a  In-Person VEX IQ Full Volume State Championship with judging!

Location:

This year's State competition will be held at 10000 Spain Road NE, Albuquerque NM 87111 . It is going to be a 2 day event. Arriving by 9:00 AM to begin sign in and check in inspection. Robot inspection will be conducted between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Team interviews will be completed throughout the competition at the Teams' tables. The competition will be held from 10:30 to 5 PM. Team schedule slots are assigned through the Tournament software and is generated the morning of the competition. After you have gone through check in and inspection there will be a monitor that displays all the rounds your team is competeing in. Note that we will be having a practice matches scheduled as well. Please review the Agenda for more details.

Parking: There is plenty of open parking for cars and buses.

JUDGING (optional):   Judging is encouraged, but not required.  If you opt to participate in judging,  Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. If you need help with submitting a digital notebook, please review the following information Submitting a Digital Notebook for VIQC Remember that an Engineering Notebook is required for the Excellence Award!

The Team's Primary Contact, or another designated Adult Team contact (over the age of 18), must be present in the meeting environment through out the duration of the time. The Team's Primary Contact will be responsible for providing the Adult representative's contact information to the Event Partner prior to the event.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

February 28th – Team Mixer & Initial Events

4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

  • 4:00 PM – Team Mixer and Sticker Swap
    Meet and greet, sticker swap for all team members

  • 5:00 PM – Team Check-In and Robot Compliance
    Teams can check in and complete initial robot compliance inspections.

  • 5:30 PM – Skills Rounds Open
    Teams who complete check-in and compliance inspections may begin Skills rounds.

  • 7:00 PM – Event Concludes for the Evening

 

March 1st – Competition Day

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

8:00 AM – Doors Open
Teams arrive and complete any remaining check-in and robot compliance.

9:00 AM – Check-In and Compliance Deadline
All teams must be checked in and robots inspected by this time.

9:00 AM – 9:30 AM – Opening Ceremonies and Parade of Teams
Formal event kick-off with the parade of teams and introduction of the day's agenda.

9:30 AM – 9:45 AM – Driver’s Meeting
Important meeting for all drivers to go over competition rules, safety, and event structure.

10:00 AM – Matches Begin
Head-to-head competitions begin.

12:30 PM – 1:00 PM – Lunch Break

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Matches and Skills Rounds Resume

4:00 PM – Competition Ends
Final matches completed and teams gather for awards.

4:15 PM – 5:00 PM – Awards Ceremony
Recognition of team achievements and awards presentation.

 

Volunteer

We love having volunteers.  Most of the Volunteers for the competition must be a minimum of 16 and in some cases 18 or older. If you have anyone that would like to volunteer please contact us by filling in the form HERE

Here is a link to the list of Volunteer positions available and the age requirements. Some positions such as Judging and Head Refereeing require additional training. If that is something you are interested in, you can get started by going HERE.

The Judging roles will have training dates and once the volunteer form above is filled out we will reach out to you to make sure you are aware of those dates and times.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

This event will take place rain or shine as it is in doors.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event:  All fees will be refunded except the $5.00 REC processing fee.

 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: None avaliable!

The webcast link for the State Competition will be shared as we get closer to the event date. Keep an eye out for updates so you can tune in and support your team live!

Judging Format

In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. A judge willl come to each table and will interview the team(s).

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions. NoteBooks will only be accepted Digitally. To qualify for the Excellence, Design, and Judges Award, you must submit a notebook.

             Acceptance Deadline for Digital Notebook: January 17, 2025
