General Info

This blended IQ event allows teams to meet and try out their improved robot design and provide a last chance to qualify for the state competition.  The venue is located at the historic Fort Apache situated between the North and East Fork rivers which form White River.  Fort Apache is a few miles south of Whiteriver and 25 miles south of Pinetop-Lakeside. If you have time, vistors are encouraged to explore the nearby Kinishba ruins or visit the museum at Ft Apache.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

The weather in Whiteriver in January can include snow and ice.  It is however, 5186 ft elevation whereas Pinetop is at 6,804 ft.  Local hotels are in the adjacent communities of Hon Dah, Pinetop-Lakeside or Show Low; which has a higher chance of heavier snow than Whiteriver.  Please keep an eye on the weather if you are traveling.

The event could be delayed up to two hours to accomodate visiting teams if there is inclimate weather causing delays in getting to the venue.

Whiteriver can be reached from either the South through Globe and the Salt River Canyon or from the North out of Show Low/Hon Dah. From Phoenix, Show Low can be reached from Globe on Highway 77 or Payson on Highway 87 and 260.

If the Event Partner cancels the event:

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

If you are unable to attend, let us know 1 week prior to the event. We will issue a refund minus the $5 fee we pay the REC.

Judging Format

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
