General Info

Welcome to the DC VEX IQ Tournament.  This event is hosted by Capitol City Robotics.

This is a DC Qualifying event open to elementary and middle school teams.  This event is open to the public.  During the Tournament, teams will have at least three opportunities to participate in both Driving Skills and Programming Skills Challenges in addition to tournament matches.

In the Pit area there will be a minimum of two practice fields.  Teams are expected to practice good sportsmanship in sharing the fields and ensuring scoring elements are replaced when a team finishes a practice round.

DETAILS

  • This event will be held in-person

  • Interview Judging will be held in-person

  • Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. All notebooks should be submitted by midnight on 1/14/2025. 

  • We will hold 7 rounds of Teamwork Challenges along with Skills

  • Food will NOT be served at the venue, please make arrangement with your team to bring or order food 

LOCATION

  • Our tournament will be held in the Rita Bright Family and Youth Center, 2500 14th Street Northwest

  • There is street parking only so please plan accordingly

Skills Challenge field will be open from 10:00 am - 1:45 pm

Teams are permitted up to three (3) tries for Robot Skills and three (3) tries for Programming Skills.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

This event may be rescheduled in the case of bad weather.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: Refunds will be issued 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:  Please reach out [email protected]

Please note refunds will not include the $5 RobotEvents processing fee.

Judging Format

 Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
