Welcome to The CT STEM Academy VEX IQ Rapid Relay Tournament.This event is a qualifier for the VEX IQ Challenge Connecticut State Championship!

A few items to consider:

  • Snacks will be available for purchase.
  • Remember to bring your Engineering Notebooks!
  • Registration will be at 7:30am.(Doors open at 7:15am)  Teams running late must contact the event partner Laura Juarez
  • Please make sure all of your teams/participants have completed the Participation Legal Release form for all participants prior to arrival. This can be done at Robotevents.com.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

  • 7:30 am: Doors Open
  • 7:45am - 9:00am: Registration and inspection
  • 9:00am - 9:15am: Drivers meeting, Announcements and introductions
  • 9:15am -12:00pm: Qualification Matches
  • 12:00am - 12:30pm: Lunch
  • 12:30pm - 2:00pm: Qualification Matches (If additional time is needed.)
  • 2:00pm - 3:00pm: Finals Matches (Will follow Qualification matches)
  • 3:00pm:Awards

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of bad weather changes to the schedule will be emailed to the team contacts. 

Options:

1. Event opening may be delayed to allow for travel.

2. Event may be canceled due to the weather and have a snow date for the weekend after. 

Team contacts will be contacted by email or by phone with a decision by 6:00am. All teams are encouraged to use their best judgement when deciding to attend. 

 

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

We will refund you the amount with the exception of $5 that are charged by REC Foundation. This refund will only be available to teams that request cancellation 7 days prior to the event. No other refunds will be processed as they are done by CT STEM Academy.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: NO REFUND WILL BE PROCESSED.

Judging Format

 

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
