General Info

Welcome:

Welcome to the Hoke County Schools VEXIQ Tournament. We are looking forward to an exciting day of competition. 

Robot Skills, judged awards, and engineering notebook judging will be available.  All engineering notebooks are to be submitted electronically.   

Location:
This tournament will be held at East Hoke Middle School . Parking and entrance locations will be emailed to coaches prior to the event.

Payment:
Unless a payment date/plan has been precoordinated via email with the EP, registration fee must be paid by January 24, 2024, otherwise team will be moved to the waitlist. 

Concessions:

Light refreshments will be sold throughout the event. Teams are responsible for their own lunches.

COVID protocols for this event:

At this time, there are no specific COVID protocols for this event.  Please visit the Health and Safety Polices information page to stay abreast of any changes to the COVID protocol for this venue.

Participant Release Form:
A Participant Release Form/Consent Form must be completed and uploaded for all team participants (students, coaches, and mentors) prior to the event.  As a reminder, only those team members and coaches/mentors with a signed Participant Release Form/Consent Form will be allowed to participate.   Please take a few minutes to complete and upload the forms as soon as possible. Upon arrival, all team members, coaches, and mentors must sign in at the check-in table.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

7:00 am – Doors Open  

7:00 am – 8:30 am – Check-in, Inspections, Practice Fields Open

8:00 am – 10:15 am – Skills Fields Open - Max of 3 Driving and Max of 3 Autonomous 

10:15 am – 10:30 am – Event Meeting

10:30 am - 12:00 pm – Qualification Matches

12:00 pm – 12:45 pm – Lunch (Skills Fields are open)

12:45 pm – 2:15 pm – Skills Field are closed - Begin Qualification Matches

2:30 pm – Teamwork Finals (Top 8 teams matches) and Awards

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

An email will be sent to each team's primary and secondary POC in the event of bad weather.  This tournament will be cancelled only if The Hoke County School district closes due to weather. Teams that choose not to attend due to weather will not receive a refund.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

  • To cover processing fees and expenses leading up to the tournament, the refund will be $60.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: 

  • No refund will be issued. 

Unpaid teams will be put on the waitlist January 24, 2024, unless payment has been worked out via email with the EP Amber Hutchins.

 

Judging Format

  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
