General Info

Thank you for registering for the VEXIQ Gold Coast Elementary League at Pine Crest School Boca Raton Campus. We are happy to have your team compete with and learn along with us! Here are a few important things to know about our League.

 

  1. We will meet 4 times on the dates listed below, and each competition will run from 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Our League dates are:

    • Nov 16, 2024

    • Dec 14, 2024

    • Jan 25, 2025

    • Feb 22, 2025

  2. During each of our four League Events, teams will have the opportunity to participate in 3 driver control and 3 autonomous runs, as well as 2-3 teamwork challenge matches.

  3. Team interviews will take place during the third event (1/25/25), with notebooks due digitally approximately one week earlier.

  4. Teamwork finals and awards will take place during the last event, it will likely run a bit long and we will give you a heads-up.

  5. Expect an email the week before each event with updates and reminders for you and your team.

  6. This league is for team members and coaches only, our space is limited and doesn’t accommodate audience members. Parents can drop off students at 12:30 PM and pick them up at 3:30 PM.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Volunteer

We need volunteers to help with judging during our 3rd Session on January 25, 2025. We are asking each school / organization to commit at least one adult volunteer to help with judging notebooks and conducting team interviews. Please contact Kris Swanson ([email protected]) if you are interested!

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If bad weather is predected before the event, coaches will be contacted and the event will be rescheduled.

If bad weather occurs during the event, we will follow Pine Crest School's Security Guidelines to seek shelter, depending on the weather event.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event a full refund will be repaid, minus the $5 fee charged by the REF Foundation.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend a refund will be sent if the team withdraws 4 weeks or more from the first competition date.

If a team does not pay by the set deadline (11/1/24) they will be moved to the waitlist to give another team a chance to participate.

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. The submission deadline is by 11:59pm on January 17, 2025.
