Judging Format
There will be No Judging
Hello,
We are excited to have you all here on Saturday at our Starfire VEX IQ “Full Volume” Tournament! Please come to the South parking lot of South Adams. You can drop off your robots and equipment along the circle drive and then park to the west of that drive. Please do not park in the circle drive it is just a loading zone. Please enter door S17 and come to the Middle School gym (turn right and head down the hall). Check-in will take place in the gym where we will then have you go to the cafeteria directly across (West) from the gym where the pits will be set up. The all-important concession area is near both (directly to the North of the gym spectator door entrance)! Attached is the concessions we will provide. We are providing a good mix of food with Alpine Rose featured coffee and breakfast casseroles and Johnson Junction Donuts with Coney Dogs, Sloppy Joes and Nachos featured for lunch! As this is just our second time hosting a tournament and many of our volunteers are in different roles, please be patient with us!
What to bring?
Practice Fields: Teams are ENCOURAGED to bring their own practice fields, but not required. We hope to have one for all teams to utilize and take turns doing so. This will be placed in the gym. If you bring one, it will be placed in the cafeteria where the pits are located. Feel free to put signs by your fields.
Pit areas: Please plan on bringing a power strip for one of the plug-ins located around the exterior of the pit area. Teams will have half of a lunch room table, and we will try to put teams from the same school at the same table. Please keep this area tidy as we are responsible for cleanup at the end of the day! No horseplay will be tolerated.
Concessions/Food: Bring some cash, we do not accept cards! We have a concession stand on site and is conveniently located. Preferred dining areas are the tables in the hallway between the gym and concessions or in the pit area. We get profits from our stand and is one of our primary fundraisers, so we would appreciate your consideration of purchasing food from the concession stand on site, breakfast items including donuts, breakfast casseroles, hot chocolate and coffee will be served until we run out and lunch will begin around 10:45. Our Coney/Sloppy Joe and Nacho meat is homemade using locally sourced Angus beef. Of course, all the typical concessions with candy, chips, popcorn and pop will be available. (SEE ATTACHED)
Other than having three pizza places in Berne, dining is limited with only Subway and McDonald’s as the fast food options in Berne. After our event, we encourage you to stay, shop and eat in Downtown Berne or Geneva. Link to places to go in Berne: https://bernein.com/
Where to go?
Doors: Doors will open at 7:30AM. S17 is your Door to Enter!
Parking: Parking for all is in the South Parking lot though you may unload only in the circle drive.
How Match Play will be running?
Matches: All teams will have 8 qualification matches.
Match Pacing: We will continue to run matches as long as teams are ready to play. If teams are not early, we will run matches at the posted time on the match schedule. Please be ready to be on time for matches. Last year, we ran a little earlier than what was posted as everyone was ready and efficient! If you have concerns about this, please let us know as there is a good balance to pacing to let teams fix problems and keeping students engaged!
When can we do Skills?
Skills Matches: We hope to have scorekeepers available to have time before qualifications (if inspected), and during the extended lunch period for skills runs. Teams are limited to 3 driver and 3 programming skills runs.
Finals and State Qualifications:
Finals: We plan on having 10 alliances of 2 teams in the finals.
State Qualifications: The Teamwork Champions will qualify for the State Championship.
Please be sure to keep areas cleaned up and trash in designated areas.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.
Thank you!
