General Info
Coaches and Team-members,
Thank you for registering for the High Voltage Event - the information below is tentative, please be sure to check back one week before the Event for any changes to the schedule or offerings.
Food: UPDATE: pizza/snacks/bakegoods will be sold at the Event - Check your Jan 16th & 20th email for the pre-order QR code or you can order & pay the day of Event
OR if you wish, bring your own lunch, snacks and a water bottle. There is plenty of food for sale in Monroe within 2 miles of the school. Bring a warm jacket if you want to eat outside.
Pits: Each team will have a table for their robot. We have Guest WiFi, but it is not great so have your robot Programming Code on a USB just in case. You are welcome to bring your own surge protected extension cords. Label all of your equipment to prevent confusion and loss - reminder to come with fully charged batteries as backup and on your robots.
There will be NO Practice Field available UNLESS a Team(s) is willing to bring their full field to share with everyone (email me ASAP if you are willing so we can adjust our layout - it would be greatly appreciated!)
- If Teams want to bring their own field elements to practice on their Pit table that is fine, but there will be no spare space for Teams to bring portions of their own fields for only their individual use unless you want to set up outside the building
Qualification Matches: Our goal is to run 6-7 qualification matches (that may change depending on the Teams that check in)
Conduct: Please remind your students and adults that is is a "student led" Event so only students communicate with Referees, and adults need to stay in the stands as much as possible so Teams can do their own troubleshooting. Overly-aggressive confrontations with volunteer Scorekeepers, Referees, and Judges will not be tolerated, and may result in a written report to the Event Partner that may affect Award decisions. Respectful communication is always welcome, but we have had some problems in the past with students not wanting to accept the answer/decision they were given so please work with your students and parents on how to accept "no" gracefully.
Volunteers always needed: If you know of any high schoolers or older that want some volunteer hours or just like to help, please have them contact us at this email. The more the merrier, and we feed them all lunch and snacks!

VIQC Qualifying Tournament
The event must meet the VIQC Qualifying Criteria for the results to upload to RobotEvents, which can be viewed in the REC Foundation Qualifying Criteria. If there is an out-of-state/region/province/nation team, or a team that double qualifies from the event (not from previous events or other methods), that spot will go to the next highest unqualified team on the Robot Skills ranking at that event. There is no look-back to previous events to see if a team has previously qualified. These spots will be filled by the Event Engagement Manager after the event has been uploaded and the results have been verified.
The state qualification spots are determined by the capacity of the State Championship, the number of events in the state, and the size of the event. The number of state championship spots for each local event are initially determined by the event capacity and will be reassessed one week prior to the event. If you have questions about the State Championship qualification process, please contact your Event Engagement Manager, Richard Craig at [email protected].
